What is an Amazement Park and why is it called Wake The Tiger?

An Amazement Park is a transformative and empowering space that uses art as an invitation to connect and inspire positive change, and the name was inspired by the book ‘Waking The Tiger’ by Peter Levine. It explores themes of trauma and transformation. It is about awakening that fierce, powerful part within ourselves to drive change.

The vision behind it is beautifully symbolic; on one side, a strong and fierce animal, and on the other, a playful, cuddly cub. Wake The Tiger represents the balance between these two – fierce yet playful, powerful yet approachable.

How long does the experience take?

Once you’re through the portal, we don’t offer navigation as we encourage exploration and self-discovery. The experience is non-linear and entirely self-led, so you can spend anywhere from 40 minutes to 4 hours in the park- it's entirely up to you.

At any point in your journey, you can take a break in the Junktion Cafe Bar for some well-earned rest and delicious, fresh food and drink.

Are there actors in the experience?

The experience is self-led to encourage visitors to explore wherever they want at a relaxed pace. We have roaming animators who serve as in-world guides to help you get the most out of your visit. They are available to offer assistance, share their knowledge about the story and art, and enjoy chatting with all our visitors.

Is there parking available?

Accepted Answer

We have a small car park on site, including limited blue badge spaces, available on a first come first serve basis.

Wake The Tiger is a pay on exit car park with a payment machine situated inside our box office. Please note this is card only/contactless. Alternatively, you also have the option to use the ECPparkbuddy app to validate your parking. Up to 3 hours is £3.00. Each additional hour is £1.00.

When our car park becomes full there is alternative parking at Bristol Fruit Market. This is at the top of Albert Road, charged at £5 for the day, and less than a 5 minute walk from us.

Please note, the car park is only accessible during opening hours. Charges apply for release of your vehicle (or other mode of transport) outside of these hours.

Question 5

Do you have a café on site?

Accepted Answer

Yes, it's called Junktion; a fully-licenced cafe bar managed by our Partners, Double Puc. You can enjoy delicious light meals, snacks and drinks throughout the day, including sandwiches, crisps, cookies, and more. As part of our ethos we are meat-free and source everything as locally as is possible, reducing our carbon footprint.You can enter Junktion at anytime before, after or during your exploration if you need some time out, however please note, Junktion is only available for ticketholders of Wake The Tiger.

Question 6

Can I bring my own food and drink?

Accepted Answer

Only food and drink purchased in The Junktion Café Bar may be consumed on-site, other than baby food or for medical reasons, and no food or drink is allowed in the experience itself.

Question 7

Do you have any lockers or a cloakroom room?

Accepted Answer

We do not have a cloakroom or lockers at this time, and visitors must keep their belongings with them at all times.

Can pushchairs be taken through the experience?

Accepted Answer

Unfortunately we don't allow pushchairs into the experience due to some spaces being too small for them, however there is pushchair parking on entering so you can safely leave it until you've finished the experience.

Question 9

Is Wake The Tiger wheelchair accessible?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We have designed the park with accessibility in mind. There are some areas that have tighter spaces which may be harder to navigate around, however most areas have alternative routes for manual wheelchair use. Due to the tighter spaces we do not allow mobility scooters and pushchairs round the experience.

We do have a manual wheelchair available to be pre-booked if you require it. Please note our staff are unable to assist in transferring anyone into the manual wheelchair.

Question 10

Is the experience safe for those with epilepsy?

Accepted Answer

A room called Dazzle in the OUTERverse contains high contrast moving geometric patterns and will not be suitable for those who have photo-sensitivity or epilepsy so the bypass route should be used. Dazzle may also cause motion sickness or feelings of disorientation.

The remainder of the experience (before and after the Dazzle room) incorporates low level, flashing and various moving lighting effects which some visitors may find triggering.

If you are still unsure or have queries, please contact us before you purchase tickets and we will try to answer any specific questions you have.

Question 11

Can mobility scooters enter the experience?

Accepted Answer

For health and safety reasons we cannot allow powered mobility scooters to enter the attraction. There is level access for powered chairs throughout the attraction, however there are some narrow areas and turning circles, so we ask that anyone with a powered chair visiting us brings with them a person to assist with navigation in the experience.

We have a manual wheelchair available to borrow for those who need to arrive using a large mobility vehicle or electric scooter but are able to transfer to a manual wheelchair. Please contact us prior to booking your tickets to ensure this is available for you. Please also note our staff are unable to assist in transferring anyone into the manual wheelchair.

Do you offer Carer tickets?

Accepted Answer

Yes, carers come for free when supporting someone who requires assistance round the experience. When you buy tickets just select a carer ticket. We ask you to please bring one of the following with you:

Letter/notice of entitlement for Disability Living Allowance
Letter from your doctor
Blue parking badge or Freedom Pass
DID or Access card
Rainbow Resource card
Pink card
PIP

Question 13

Do you offer concession / discounted tickets for certain groups?

Accepted Answer

We do offer £10 tickets for Students and Blue Light card holders in off-peak times only, and must be purchased online via General Admission here. We also allow Carers in for free when supporting someone who requires assistance round the experience.

Please note, Student tickets are only valid for those in higher education (college or above) who hold a valid Student ID card. This cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers, discounts or promotions. Please also note, one Blue Light Holder Ticket or Student Ticket per valid ID.

Question 14

Is Wake The Tiger suitable for children?

Accepted Answer

Yes, children of all ages are welcome. The experience does include some dark spaces, lighting effects and soundscapes which could be scary for some more sensitive and very young viewers. That said we have had a number of adventurous young children who love their experience with us.

Please note pushchairs must be left at the reception desk and we ask that babies be placed in carriers.

Can children go in unaccompanied?

Accepted Answer

Only those aged 16+ can enter Wake The Tiger. Children younger than 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Please note, only ticketholders can enter Wake The Tiger, including The Guildhall Café Bar.

Do you have a risk assessment for the experience?

Accepted Answer

Wake The Tiger does not complete Health & Safety forms or risk assessments for other businesses, schools or groups. However we do recognise that some establishments require risk assessments to be carried out prior to any visit or trip.

We have created a risk assessment of Wake The Tiger which you can access by clicking the below button. Additionally we welcome one person free of charge to visit ahead of the group booking if they need to complete their own risk assessment. Please contact us if you would like to arrange this.

Question 17

Does Wake The Tiger have a slide?

The OUTERverse includes one slide in the room called Aetheria, which has been designed and extensively tested & checked by experts.

We have created rules to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience. Please take a moment to review our Slide Safety Rules below:

No riders under 5 years of age
Riders must remove their shoes before going down the slide
For hygiene reasons, no bare feet on the slide
One rider at a time
Do not attempt to stop on the slide
Do not slide down head first
Do not use if you have a history of neck or back problems or are suspected to be pregnant
Exit immediately at the bottom of the slide
No climbing the slide
Wake The Tiger has no liability for any loss or damage arising on the premises
If the slide is a little too daunting, don’t worry, there are stairs t

Is the experience air-conditioned?

The experience has ventilation and heating, and there is air-conditioning in The Guildhall Café Bar.

Do you allow dogs?

Accepted Answer

We welcome assistance dogs and can provide bowls for them. These are provided at the Main Entrance. The nearest toilet area for assistance dogs is located in the park across the road from the attraction. Due to the nature of the venue, we are unable to permit entry to assistance dogs in training. Please note there are loud noises, mist effects and smells (nothing nasty!) that may be confusing for assistance animals. Assistance dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.

Do you allow photography?

You are more than welcome to take photos and videos as long as it is not for commercial gain. If it is, please contact info@wakethetiger.com with more details. When filming or taking photos, please be respectful of others around you.

Can I amend my booking?

Accepted Answer

Amends to your booking can only be made up to 48 hours before arrival and is subject to availability. One amend request will be completed free of charge, after this an amend fee of £5.00 will be incurred every time an amend is requested and carried out.

Can I get a refund?

While bookings are non-refundable through ourselves as per the T&Cs, if you purchased TicketPlan’s refund protection you can apply for a refund through their website.

How do I make a group booking?

For school bookings please click here and submit an enquiry.
To have an out-of-this-world birthday party, check out our packages and submit an enquiry here.
For standard group bookings for families, friends, work socials etc, you can book up to 70 people by visiting our tickets page here and even better, we offer a 10% discount for groups of 10+ (where a minimum 10 Adult and/or Child tickets are purchased)
If your booking is for more than 70 people, but you do not require exclusive hire, please contact info@wakethetiger.com detailing the number of people, date & time.

Do you allow walk-ups or must I book a ticket?

You are not guaranteed entry without a pre-booked time slot, so we encourage pre-booking to avoid disappointment. Please also note, tickets are more expensive on the door. Click here to see our pricing.

Do you offer Student or Blue Light Holder concessions?

Yes! We offer £10 tickets to students and Blue Light Holders (please present valid ID on arrival)  in our off-peak times. All you need to do is book here and select the correct ticket.

We have a small amount of cash, however we are asking visitors to use card wherever possible, including at the gift shop and café bar.

Does Wake The Tiger have sessions without kids allowed?

Yes! Every other Friday, starting on 31st January right through to 21st November 2025, enjoy Wake The Tiger 7-11pm, with not a child in sight. An 18+ night where you get to explore more than 40 spaces with wild and surreal art installations, full 360-degree sets with interactive elements, state-of-the-art theming, robots & even a slide, across 2 out-of-this-world levels.

Remember when you book more than 2 days in advance, you get 20% off.

Does Wake The Tiger have calm or quiet sessions?

Yes! On the first Thursday of every month we offer Calm Sessions, where we have reduced our capacity, sound and lighting, to provide a calmer Wake The Tiger experience.

These Calm Sessions are for anyone who could find a visitor attraction overwhelming when open to the general public, particularly SEND and neurodivergent people of all ages. So if you perhaps prefer less people and where sensory-stimulation is managed, including the lights and sounds, then a Calm Session could be perfect for you and your party. These sessions are also open to family members, friends and carers.

I’m running late – what should I do?

Accepted Answer

If you are running late for your booking, please arrive safely as soon as you can. On arrival, a member of staff will check your tickets and we will be happy to get you booked in on the next available time slot if you are late to yours. Please note, our last entry is 2 hours before close.

Can I buy tickets at the door?

Yes, but an additional £5 per Adult (16+), per Child (5-15) and per Under 5 will be charged on walk-up without pre-booked tickets, so it is always better to book online in advance.
