Vocation Dance Company is a year-long pre-professional training programme and touring company for committed dancers, typically aged 14–18. Designed to bridge the gap between dance school and vocational college, students receive advanced training, work with industry professionals and perform in our annual touring production across multiple venues.

Do dancers leave their current dance school?

Accepted Answer

No. Vocation Dance Company is designed to complement your existing dance training, not replace it. We actively encourage dancers to continue attending and representing their current dance school.

Who can apply?

Accepted Answer

Applications are open to committed dancers, typically aged 14–18, who demonstrate an intermediate to advanced level of training, a strong work ethic and a genuine passion for dance.

Exceptional younger dancers aged 10+ may be considered where they can demonstrate the required technical ability, maturity and commitment.

Question 4

Is there an audition?

Accepted Answer

Places are offered through an application process, which remains open throughout the year. Applications for mid-year entry will be considered where places are available and at the Director’s discretion.
Once a year, Vocation Dance Company also holds an open audition, giving us the opportunity to assess each dancer’s ability, potential and suitability for company training. Dancers offered a place through the annual audition may also be eligible for a subsidised first-term fee, with no obligation to continue once the discounted term has ended.

Students receive approximately 30 weeks of specialist training, collaborate with guest artists and industry professionals, and perform as part of a touring company in professional theatre venues—gaining valuable experience before vocational college or a career in the performing arts.
