On Location with the Next Generation VLA Telescope
On Location with the Next Generation VLA Telescope
A new structure has appeared in the desert. It’s a prototype radio dish for what is being called the next generation VLA, or ngVLA for short. When operational, the new and advanced radio telescope will start carving out its own place in astronomical history. Supercluster's Erik Kuna was embedded for the first tests and photographed the advanced machine.

Everything We Expect (And Want) From the X-Files Reboot
Whether Mulder and Scully surface as mentors, Easter eggs, or not at all, the torch is being passed deliberately. Coogler knows the weight of legacy, as he successfully soft-rebooted the Rocky franchise through Creed and took charge of an entire cinematic universe with Black Panther.

China’s Telescope is Sifting Through Old SETI@Home Data
Today, SETI is reanalyzing the 100 most promising signals from its SETI@Home project via follow-ups with the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope (FAST) in China. The project has been gazing at these targets since July in hopes of spotting a repeat.
Ukraine is Close to Achieving Air Launch to Orbit
Ukraine is Close to Achieving Air Launch to Orbit
Space startup Orbit Boy is a spinoff of the storied Ukrainian Space Agency. Statements from Ukrainian government officials indicate that the company is in pursuit of the elusive ‘air launch’ to orbit, small launchers deployed from an airliner in-flight, which could eventually help rapidly launch military and commercial satellites on-demand at an affordable rate. Sound familiar?

Why is Pakistan Sending an Astronaut to China's Space Station?
Two unnamed spacefaring hopefuls are currently undergoing training in China, with one of them set to make history as not only Pakistan’s first professional astronaut, but also as the first foreign visitor to the Tiangong Space Station.

At the Heart of Artemis II is Rise, the Fluffy Astronaut
This little mascot, which is freely floating about along with the rest of the Artemis crew, is arguably one of the least essential components of NASA’s 10-day lunar slingshot. But it is easily the most endearing part of the entire endeavor, which in a way makes it just as important as anything else within the Orion spacecraft.

Supercluster's Erik Kuna and Jenny Hautmann capture history in the making at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The first human launch to the moon in over 50 years.
Artemis II Is Carrying A Revolutionary Organ Experiment
Artemis II Is Carrying A Revolutionary Organ Experiment
While out in deep space, the Artemis II astronauts are showered by intense radiation — not just from our Sun, but from the rest of the cosmos. While they won’t be put in lethal danger, it will have a deleterious effect on them. And although their health will be monitored during the mission, their bone marrow organ chips will provide a precise measure of how that radiation impacts a fundamental part of their biology.

40 Years After Voyager 2: Does Uranus Require a Deeper Dive?
40 Years After Voyager 2: Does Uranus Require a Deeper Dive?
As the first close up images of Uranus were beamed back, excitement turned to discontent. Whereas Jupiter and Saturn displayed active, writhing atmospheres with turbulent storm clouds that, in Saturn’s case, was topped off by the most remarkable ring system, Uranus appeared bland and boring, swamped in a featureless smog and encircled by dark, thin rings that were barely visible.

NASA is supposed to provide an instrument to help the European Space Agency scan the surface of Venus in powerful detail. American politics and budgeting issues may delay the mission.

The Palomar Lights: Did ET Watch Our Nuclear Tests?
Beatriz Villarroel leads the Vanishing and Appearing Sources during a Century of Observations project. She claims to have found UFOs on digitized versions of old photos of the night sky taken by the Samuel Oschin Telescope at California’s Palomar Observatory in the 1950s. The appearances of these unknown objects correspond with early nuclear tests.
