This range of custom base flashings are made to suit the VELUX FCM, VCM, VCS range of skylights. Unlike the name suggest the “flat roof range” can be installed on pitched roofs ranging from 0 – 60 degrees. In our opinion the Velux flat roof range is the easiest skylight to install across the Velux range, when installing with our pre fabricated custom base flashing. Our range of custom base flashings is designed to enable the correct installation of Velux skylights, ensuring a perfect fit with your roof profile. These tailor-made flashings significantly reduce the installation time, making the process more efficient and less labor-intensive. By integrating our custom base flashings into your skylight installation, you eliminate the common concern of water leaks. This method not only ensures a seamless and secure connection between the skylight and the roof but also provides peace of mind by effectively preventing leaks, safeguarding your home against water damage and ensuring the longevity of your skylight installation. This is the flashing system which surrounds the skylight and connects it to the roof. The flashing is used as a way to ensure your skylight is waterproof. Can I customise the flashing? Yes, if you have specific measurements for your custom base, please attach drawings to your order by uploading or emailing to sales@shireskylights.com Pre fabricated or Flat pack? Our pre-fabricated solution minimizes installation complexity, ensuring a leak-proof seal and a perfect fit with minimal effort. This comes pre-fabricated, ready to be installed directly out of the box, offering convenience and saving valuable time on the job site. On the other hand, our Flat Pack solution is designed for those who prefer a more hands-on approach. It provides all the necessary components in a compact package, allowing for a more economic shipping option for our interstate customers. While it requires a bit more time and effort to assemble, it's perfect for projects where the customer is looking to save some money by assembling it on-site, which also helps save on shipping costs. Made to suit all roof types: We manufacture all custom base flashings to suit all roof types including, Corrugated, Trim Deck, Klip Lock, Tile roof, Concrete hob. All standard size base details can be found here - Technical specification Why Back Tray Flashing is a Must Installing a back tray flashing is highly recommended for any skylight positioned on a roof pitch under 15 degrees. Its design effectively removes the section of roofing sheet behind the skylight. As a result, when rain hits the back tray, it seamlessly diverts water into the sheet pan on either side of the flashing, preventing any potential leaks. All base flashings are made from .55bmt colorbond steel, unlike other suppliers who use a powder coating process which fades and deteriorates over time. Our pre fabricated bases can be made with two reveal types; Timber reveal: Our pre fabricated bases come standard with a 70x35 treated pine timber reveal, this is not to be removed. The timber reveal not only adds strength to the base flashing, enhancing its durability and stability, but also serves as a thermal break. This is crucial for improving the insulation properties of the skylight, critical for achieving the Velux performance rating. Metal reveal: No timber reveal is needed, as the flashing has been specifically designed to replicate this detail with a 35mm x 35mm reverse fold. The skylight is secured directly to the base flashing. Please note all flat pack flashings are made with a metal reveal. Refer to our - Technical specification sheet for more information Warranty? We offer a two year manufactures warranty on all custom base flashings. Note: All custom base flashings are made to order, and no returns will be accepted.
