The School of Social Sciences means a great deal to me as a sociology major. It has shaped how I understand society, inequality, and the lived experiences of others. It has also shown me how important it is to support research that helps us better understand human behavior, strengthen communities, and inform public policy. Supporting the School of Social Sciences means supporting the students and scholarship behind that work, especially at the moments when support matters most.
 
And right now, every gift counts—a member family of the Dean’s Leadership Society (DLS) will contribute an additional $5,000 once the donor goal is reached, and only 7 more donors are needed!

I know from personal experience that disability is about more than just accommodations or an ADA sign. It is also about community, visibility, support, and belonging—about feeling like you truly belong. Too often, "access" is treated as enough and imagined in narrow ways that are built for only a select few disabilities, leaving many students overlooked. 
Having a Disability Cultural Center is deeply personal to me, and something I wish had existed during my time at UCI. This center represents a space where students with disabilities of all kinds can feel seen, supported, and valued. It sends the message that this is a community that matters, belongs here, and deserves to be recognized—not treated as an afterthought.

I know from personal experience just how important support is for students with disabilities. Accommodations and related resources help "level the playing field" for students with disabilities by making education more accessible and equitable, supporting their ability to succeed academically. Financial support matters, too, because disability can also bring real financial strain for students and families in ways that are not always visible—whether through added costs, reduced income, or other barriers.
Supporting the Disability Services Center Scholarship Fund means supporting students with disabilities in a direct and meaningful way—by ensuring they can complete their education.

And right now, every gift counts—the Cheng Family Foundation will gift ann additional $1,250 once the donor goal is reached, and only 7 more donors are needed!

As someone with many health issues/disabilities, I know firsthand the importance of having access to quality physicians and medical facilities. As I have aged out of the pediatric system, many of my specialists have moved to UCI, where I have access to quality healthcare, groundbreaking research, and compassionate patient care—all of which can have a profound impact on people’s lives.
As UCI Health continues to expand its services, locations, and reach, support ensures they can continue advancements toward innovative treatments, life-saving discoveries, and high-quality care for patients, families, and the broader community.
