Learn more about our LinkedIn banner maker

LinkedIn banner maker

Your LinkedIn banner sits behind your profile photo at the top of your profile, so it's one of the first things recruiters, clients and new connections see. This free LinkedIn banner maker turns your name, headline and call to action into a clean banner in a few clicks.

Type your name, add a headline or call to action, then choose a layout, palette and font. Add a photo from your device if you'd rather have a picture behind your words.

Why your LinkedIn banner matters

Most profiles keep LinkedIn's default grey background, so a considered banner makes yours stand out before anyone reads a word. It's also the widest space you have to show what you do: a short headline or a call to action tells visitors why they should connect, follow or get in touch.

Keep clear of your profile photo

Your profile photo overlaps the lower-left part of the banner, and the exact overlap shifts a little between desktop and the mobile app. The preview marks that area and a text safe area beside it, so your name never ends up hidden behind your own face.

Photo or flat artwork?

A photo works well when your setting says something about your work: a studio, a stage, a workshop or a city skyline. Turn on the scrim to keep your text readable over busy areas.

Flat artwork is a dependable choice when you want a consistent personal brand. Pick a palette that matches your website or portfolio so the banner feels like part of the same identity.

What to put on a LinkedIn banner

Keep it short. Your name, a headline of a few words and one call to action, like a website, newsletter or booking link, is plenty. Anything longer competes with your headline and About section, which already sit just below the banner.

LinkedIn banner maker FAQ

What size should a LinkedIn banner be?

LinkedIn recommends a background photo of 1584 × 396 pixels, a 4:1 ratio. This tool downloads your banner at exactly that size.

Where does my profile photo cover the banner?

Your profile photo overlaps the bottom-left corner of the banner. Keep your name and key text to the right of it, inside the safe area the preview highlights.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. Your photo is decoded in your browser and is never uploaded or stored.

What file format does the banner download in?

Flat artwork downloads as a PNG. Photo banners download as a JPEG, compressed until they're under LinkedIn's 8 MB limit.

Why can't I download my banner with custom colors?

Custom background and accent colors need at least 4.5:1 contrast with the text so your name stays readable. Adjust the colors until the warning clears.

How long can my name and headline be?

Names can be up to 42 characters, headlines up to 64 and calls to action up to 42. Long text is resized to fit the safe area.
