There are lots of reasons to take a LAMDA Exam. The one we hear about most often from learners is confidence. By developing their communication skills our learners are improving their levels of self-assurance, confident in the knowledge that they can articulate their thoughts and ideas, and importantly make their voice heard.

Other benefits include reading fluency, a broader vocabulary, enhanced memory and recall, improved English language skills and the ability to structure an argument.

Preparing for a LAMDA Exam helps everyone develop the life skills that are so important for a happy, successful and fulfilled life.

Once you have passed a LAMDA Exam, you will have earnt a qualification that is recognised all over the world that you can use to add to your CV, resume or university application. You can even earn UCAS points to help with university entry.

We can support you in any of the current LAMDA examinations offer, and at all levels depending on your experience and confidence! 

Currently, you can take:
- Introductory Exams (Stage 1 -  Stage 3)
- Performance Exams (Entry Grade - Grade 8). Select Acting, Devising Drama or Mime as your specialism unit.
- Communication Exams (Entry Grade - Grade 8). Select Speaking Verse & Pros, Reading for Performance, or Public Speaking as your specialism unit.

What Exams Can I Take?

LAMDA Online Assessment Guidance

They work exactly the same as in-person lessons, except they can be done from the comfort of your own home! 

After many years of running LAMDA lessons, we found that there was no difference in quality between our in person lessons, and our online sessions; and, in fact, many parents and students preferred the digital method as it was much more flexible for everyone.

In 2023, we began going fully digital, and began submitting students for online examinations, to compliment their online work.

Just like with in-person lessons and exams, you just need to make sure you have everything prepared for your session, and you understand the best ways of working. It may take one or two lessons to get into the swing of it, but after that, it'll become second nature.

How Do Online LAMDA Lessons Work?

We suggest the following set up for your online lessons:

1) A device with integrated camera and microphone (external microphones are not permitted). This can be a desktop computer, laptop, tablet or even a phone. Please note, phones are not suitable for level 3 exams.

2) A stable internet connection.

3) Earphones, just in case your audio is not working properly. (Headphones will do, in a pinch – but in order for you and your teacher to feel the most engaged, we think earphones are best). 

4) A parent or guardian nearby, to help you set up and to troubleshoot any technical problems you may have. This can be a parent, guardian or someone else responsible in your household.

5) Your lesson materials. These will be sent to you prior to your session. You can either have printed copies - or if you are using digital versions, make sure you have them on a separate device.

6) Depending on what examination you are taking - make sure you have sufficient space to get up and move around!

What Do I Need For My Lessons?

We operate on a "Flexible booking" system each term! This means that you have 10, 30-minute lessons to use up each term, and you can select how you want to book them.

Some students like having roughly the same slot each week for consistency; while others prefer to book each slot separately when they feel they need further support!

From our experience, we know that at different stages of your LAMDA journey, you will require different support. There may be points in your learning process, when you actually want to do multiple sessions a week; and other points when you may want a couple of weeks break - for other things, or just to solidify your materials.

With flexible bookings, the scheduling of your lessons is 100% in your hands. And, because our sessions are flexible, you can cancel for up to two hours before your lesson starts, because we understand, sometimes things just come up! 

What Do You Mean By "Flexible Booking" For Lessons?

As we embrace all things digital here, our Online Submission Platform is a system we have that students (and our coaches) can use to request, send, and receive materials related to your LAMDA exams.

Most of the time, this may be used so you can submit written work to us, or video tapes of you doing your pieces / interview questions. Our system makes it easy to submit rather than faffing around with large attachments to emails.

Sometimes, we may use the platform to send you your examination documentation, or other important paperwork. Again, this ensures that your documents are safe and secure - and allows us to keep track of whether you've received and opened it!
