V današnjem poslovnem svetu se vedno več podjetij obrača k modelom, ki spodbujajo večjo vključenost in motivacijo zaposlenih. Eden izmed teh modelov je slovenski ESOP model lastništva zaposlenih, ki omogoča, da zaposleni postanejo solastniki podjetja, v katerem delajo. Ta dokument ponuja razlago ESOP modela, ilustrira vzpostavitev in financiranje odkupa ter predstavlja ključne rezultate empiričnih raziskav, opravljenih v podjetjih, ki uporabljajo ta model po svetu.

The Institute for Economic Democracy has been developing a model since 2018 that is based on the best existing practices for transferring ownership to employees. Through the analysis of structural and institutional characteristics of employee ownership models worldwide, the European or cooperative ESOP has been developed. The purpose of this article is to provide a technical description of the European ESOP model, compare it with the American ESOP model, and present a pilot implementation in Slovenia, where the Institute for Economic Democracy has established the model in Slovenian companies on a pilot basis.
