Is she still reactive?

Daisy has progressed past reactive to small reactions every once in a while. Daisy is no longer disruptive and has zero aggression. We have worked with a professional trainer to ensure her training.

Daisy is going to learn 1-3 tasks for dog dad to use as needed. She has worked with a local trainer to be backed and prepared for minor outings. She will continue to not attend events past her limitations.

Can a previously reactive dog be a service dog?

As long as the dog is not aggressive and follows the ADA yes a dog can recover and do service work. The same as a previously attacked dog can recover and continue work. It does depend fully on the dog.

Why was she reactive?

Daisy was not socialized but we have worked extensively on this to improve and change her response to people. She previously barked and growled due to not having an outlet, not being stimulated in the correct ways, and handled properly through her behavior but after two years she has progressed toward her SDIT title!

Working a reactive dog.

Daisy is no longer considered reactive. But, working a reactive dog can over stress the pup and create negative situations. Aggression can also stim from this behavior if not handled appropriately or put into high stimuli situations such as where service dogs go.
