At Rise Hockey Development, we believe in development. Most young players have not even begun to scratch the surface of how good they could be — and many never will. At Rise Hockey Development, we make sure players become the best versions of themselves both on and off the ice.

All of our coaches are elite players who have played — or will play — NHL/Pro, Division I, USHL/CHL, or MNSHL Varsity hockey. Our environment is intense, competitive, and urgent, and our passion for the game is contagious.

We make sure our players have a lot of fun while getting better. Players don’t come to Rise Hockey Development just to burn an hour and get a workout in the summer — they come to take a huge step forward toward their goals.

What makes us unique?

Players will skate twice per week.
The first skate focuses on foundational skills — skating, stick-skills, and developing dynamic and deceptive ability. The second skate is all about hockey IQ. Through small-area games built around real game situations, players will learn how to read the play, make quick decisions, and execute deceptive, high-level plays with confidence.

Training Informantion

At Rise Hockey Development, we run two blocks of training — one in the spring and one in the summer.
	•	Spring Block: Week of April 6 through the week of May 25
	•	Summer Block: Week of June 1 through the week of August 10

Our sessions are held at EPCC, Pagel, BIG, MTKA A, Dakotah, CCC, and Shakopee.

When and Where?

Players will complete Individual Development Programs (IDPs) with the guidance of a RISE Hockey coach. These IDPs help players identify who they are as players — understanding their strengths, areas for improvement, and overall playing identity. Players will learn how to maximize what they do best while continuously developing weaker areas. IDPs also allow coaches to tailor practices and monitor progress effectively. Throughout the spring and summer, players will participate in individual meetings to review their IDPs and track their overall growth both on and off the ice.

What is a IDP?

Jason Blake played 13 seasons in the NHL, spending time with the Los Angeles Kings, New York Islanders, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Anaheim Ducks. In the 2006–07 season, he reached the 40-goal mark and earned the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy in 2007–08 for his perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey.
Before his NHL career, Jason starred at the University of North Dakota, where he captured a National Championshipand was named to the First All-Star Team twice.
Jason brings a special passion, energy, and knowledge for the game to the rink every day, inspiring players with his experience and enthusiasm for hockey.

Jason Blake

Max Dessner grew up playing his youth hockey in Eden Prairie, where he developed a strong foundation and love for the game. In his second year of Bantams, he made the decision to attend Shattuck-St. Mary’s, one of the nation’s premier hockey development programs.
After two seasons at Shattuck, Max was selected 21st overall in the USHL Draft and now competes for the Tri-City Storm as a 16-year-old.
Max brings elite knowledge of skill development and playmaking, helping players elevate their game to the next level through his experience, creativity, and passion for hockey.

Max Dessner

Jack Peterson played his youth hockey in Eden Prairie, where he made the top team every season. Last year, he earned a spot on the varsity team as a sophomore, showcasing his skill and competitiveness at a young age.
Now entering his junior season, Jack is ready for a breakout year. He brings elite hockey IQ and playmaking ability, along with a unique perspective on how to succeed as a smaller player. Jack’s energy and understanding of the game make him an excellent example and teacher for younger athletes looking to develop their skill and confidence.

Jack Peterson

Gerry is from Buffalo, New York, where he played his youth hockey for the JR Sabres. At age 14, he made the move to Shattuck-St. Mary’s, one of the top development programs in North America.
Last summer, Gerry signed with the Peterborough Petes of the OHL and now competes there as a 16-year-old. He has also committed to Penn State University, continuing his path toward collegiate and professional success.
Gerry brings an elite offensive mindset and scoring touch, helping young players learn how to create offense, finish plays, and think the game at a higher level.
