Poverty, Public Health and Inequality in Scotland: What needs to change? | Drugs Uncut
In this episode Kirsten and Jason are joined by Peter Kelly, CEO of the Poverty Alliance, to explore poverty and inequality in Scotland, and the relationship between poverty, public health and drug use. They discuss the work of the Poverty Alliance, the role of living and lived experience in shaping policy, and the wider social and economic factors driving exclusion, stigma and poor health outcomes across Scotland. The conversation also looks at what Scotland’s political leaders should prioritise moving forward and the changes needed at both policy and community level.

June Members Meeting - Young adults' Experiences of Claiming Universal Credit
June Members Meeting - Young adults' Experiences of Claiming Universal Credit
Social security should be there for all of us when we need it. But young adults claiming Universal Credit can experience multiple challenges, from limited information and support when applying and navigating assessments to inadequate payments that leave them struggling to get by. Working with a young adult Advisory Group, the Poverty Alliance carried out participatory research to understand the experiences and views of young adult parents and care experienced young adults receiving Universal Credit in Scotland. Join the Poverty Alliance’s Senior Research Officer Lauren Wilks and those involved in supporting young adult parents and care-experienced young adults to hear more about our research and the urgent changes that are needed to ensure young adults receive the support they need. Please ensure that the details, name and email address you register with are the same you will use to join us on the day. This will allow for seamless access.
