Emerging at 70. Where have I been all my life?!
Although having a lifelong love of art, and dabbling here and there, it is only over the last few years  since I retired that I have been able to explore my passion with multiple disciplines of drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture.

Drawing from decades of memories and experience, my works are often figurative, and reflect my love of colour, and the elements and random patterns of the natural world. I aim to create aesthetically pleasing work, while capturing the spirit of the evolution of culture in my lifetime.

Influenced by the work of Sarah Hickey, Vali Myers and Margaret Olley, I hope to continue to deepen my exploration of creativity and the human condition.

Lauren Wildman is a multidisciplinary artist working across painting, drawing, assemblage, sculpture, installation, and ephemeral art. Her intuitive, layered process is rooted in emotion and lived experience — shaped by her life as a woman and mother, and the quiet resilience that follows domestic upheaval and personal rupture.

Her work explores themes of identity, memory, body image, and the layered nature of the self. For Emerge, Wildman presents Unbecoming — a sculptural work created specifically for the gallery at Vacant Assembly. Integrating 2D and 3D elements, it merges painting and drawing with sculptural forms built from personal and domestic materials, including toys, letters, jewellery, and clothing.

Influenced by Ian Fairweather, Joy Hester, Tracey Emin, Judith Scott, and Jean-Michel Basquiat, Wildman’s work is bold, expressive, and unapologetically personal — a visual language of release, transformation, and reclamation.

Rhonda is an emerging artist seeking expression through clay and print using traditional forms and lines to find a deeper sense of the unusual. Ceramic vessels with pleasing symmetry and glazing where the sky meets the rural landscape, the glazed surface a ceramic journey. While, in contrast, her bookends pop with unexpected curiosity as the head of a fish looks back, unassuming, a pleasant oddity.  

Rhonda is also passionate about printmaking and is particularly drawn to copper etching and lithography, her latest collection is focused around garden pipes and notices the intrigue in these everyday structures, drawing to our attention the beauty in the functional.
