Question 1

What is Coaching?

Accepted Answer

Coaching is a collaborative partnership built on trust, respect and a shared commitment to personal and professional growth. My inclusive, strengths-based approach supports Disabled and Neurodivergent individuals to recognise their strengths, build confidence, overcome barriers and achieve meaningful goals in ways that work for them. Coaching provides a non-judgemental space to explore possibilities, develop strategies and create realistic action plans that reflect individual needs, values and circumstances.

Coaching focuses on present and future goals. Unlike therapy or counselling, which may focus on emotional healing and past experiences, or mentoring, which shares guidance from personal experience, coaching empowers individuals to find their own solutions and move forward.

Question 2

What type of coaching do you offer?

Accepted Answer

I offer inclusive, strengths-based coaching tailored to Disabled and Neurodivergent individuals, including career coaching, disability coaching, neurodiversity coaching and life coaching. Whether you want to build confidence, navigate workplace challenges, explore career options, understand your strengths, overcome barriers or work towards personal goals, I’ll support you to find approaches that work for you. My aim is to help you move from surviving to thriving, on your own terms. Need something different? Let’s have a chat!

Question 3

What is your coaching approach?

Accepted Answer

My coaching approach is primarily non-directive, inclusive and strengths-based, supporting Disabled and Neurodivergent individuals to explore challenges, reflect deeply and discover their own solutions. I provide a safe, non-judgemental space for growth, offering support and constructive challenge where agreed. Together, we’ll set meaningful goals, identify barriers and explore strategies that work with your individual needs, strengths and circumstances. I may challenge assumptions to encourage new perspectives and use appropriate tools to support your development. My aim is to empower you to build confidence, achieve your goals and thrive on your own terms.

Question 4

What is a chemistry session?

Accepted Answer

A chemistry session is an opportunity to meet your coach, discuss your goals and decide whether you feel comfortable working together. It’s a chance for us to build rapport, explore what you’re looking for from coaching and see whether my approach feels right for you. You’re encouraged to think about what matters to you, any questions you have and what you need from a coach to feel supported. This is a relaxed, no-obligation conversation where we can explore whether we’re a good fit and whether coaching can help you move towards your goals.

Question 5

What are the responsibilities of the Coach (me)

Accepted Answer

As your coach, I am responsible for creating a safe, inclusive and non-judgemental space where you feel heard, respected and supported. I will maintain confidentiality within agreed boundaries, work collaboratively with you to establish meaningful goals, and use active listening, thoughtful questioning and constructive challenge to encourage reflection and new perspectives. I will adapt my approach to your individual needs, respect your autonomy and support you to identify your own solutions and strategies. I will maintain professional boundaries, act ethically and support your progress without judgement, recognising that you are the expert in your own life.

Question 6

What are the responsibilities of the Coachee? (you)

Accepted Answer

To get the most from coaching, you’re encouraged to take part in ways that work for you. This might include thinking about your goals before sessions, sharing your thoughts honestly, reflecting on what you’ve learned and exploring small, manageable steps towards your goals. You can capture key ideas in whatever way suits you and reflect between sessions if this feels helpful. If plans change or actions feel difficult, we can explore why together without judgement. Your feedback is welcome so we can adapt our approach to your needs. There’s no one-size-fits-all way to engage with coaching; we’ll work together to find what works best for you.

Question 7

Is it confidential?

Accepted Answer

Your privacy matters. The fact that you are receiving coaching, what we discuss and any personal or professional information you share will be treated confidentially.

Information will only be shared with your explicit consent, unless there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, or another legal or ethical obligation to disclose information applies.

To maintain the quality of my coaching, I may discuss aspects of my work in professional supervision, taking care to protect your identity wherever possible.

I may take brief notes during or after sessions to help me support you consistently. These will be stored securely and kept only for as long as necessary, in line with our agreement and applicable data protection requirements.

Question 8

What are the boundaries?

Accepted Answer

I will maintain clear boundaries to ensure our coaching relationship stays focused, supportive and confidential. We’ll agree together what you want to explore and what you hope to achieve.

Coaching isn’t the right support for every situation. If something falls outside my role or expertise, we’ll discuss what other support or resources might be helpful. I’ll always be honest about what I can offer and work within my professional boundaries.

You’re welcome to ask questions or raise any concerns about boundaries, confidentiality or our working relationship at any time. There’s no need to worry about getting the wording right; we can talk things through together in a way that feels comfortable for you.

Question 9

What ethics do you follow?

Accepted Answer

I am committed to ethical, inclusive and respectful coaching in line with the Global Code of Ethics. I will:

- Act in your best interests, respecting privacy, confidentiality and boundaries.
- Explain the coaching process, including confidentiality limits and supervision.
- Work within my skills and refer you to other support when needed.
- Be transparent about conflicts of interest.
