A Buford-based law firm, Carothers and Mitchell, confirmed November 12th that, "...Planning Commission Chair Chris Braswell held regularly scheduled sessions with staff to discuss items on upcoming meeting agendas" and these meetings, "...reportedly [had] three planning commissioners present, enough to constitute a quorum of the five-member board".

This is illegal in the state of Georgia under our Open Meetings Act, which makes it unlawful for a government body to meet and discuss official business without notifying the public first.

The investigation has noted that the three commissioners guilty of this were Chris Braswell, Stan Hunt, and Frank Sosebee.

EDIT 11/19: Our local government must be held accountable, and they have been! In a 4/1 vote the BOC elected to remove the offending planning commissioners. Email David Gibbs, Kathy Cooper, Gregg Poole, and Jeff Stowe and let them know we appreciate their transparency and accountability!

The Hall County Board of Commissioners is considering the approval of a new data center complex, Project Turbo. This project threatens residents of Hall County in terms of water security, increases in electricity bills, and environmental impacts. There is still much that is uncertain about the project with the developers providing unclear, conflicting information, and yet insisting the process moves forward without addressing these concerns. We demand transparency and accountability from all parties involved in the decesion making process on this project.

The time has never been more critical to raise our voices! Let our commissioners know you do not approve of Project Turbo!

The Board of Commissioners will be revisiting this issue on December 11th at the Hall County Government Center, 2nd Floor Meeting Room, 2875 Browns Bridge Road, Gainesville, Georgia. This will be another PUBLIC hearing, please come and raise your voices once again!

If you want to speak at the voting meeting, please have something prepared beforehand that is three minutes or under. The public only has a collective 20 minutes of rebuttal time. Please remember to be respectful, concise, and focused on the core facts of the issue.
