Hi! I’m Callum, your SNP NEC Representative for Central Scotland and Lothians West.

Coming from a working-class background, I know what it feels like to be left behind by the UK Government. That our communities are only acknowledged when Westminster needs a sacrifice for their “difficult choices”. I refuse to accept that our purpose in life is to bailout the Westminster Establishment’s failures at our expense.

As a 26-year-old, I was too young to vote in both 2014 and 2016 - which means I’m part of Scotland’s next generation! It’s about time my generation had a say over our future in Scotland, on this planet!

Background-wise, I’m a high-energy and nuclear physicist. With onsite and remote work with world-renowned facilities including CERN (🇨🇭), FermiLab (🇺🇸) and RAL (🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿). On top of experience in quantum and nuclear security; as well as science communication and outreach in English, Scots and French.

From attempting to bulldoze transfers or taking the community voices out of our Community Centres – the Labour-Tory coalition cannot be trusted.

I will fight to save our community centres whilst ensuring our current local facilities have our communities at their core.

Save Community Centres

From flooding to pot holes, mismanaged infrastructure to neglecting disabled parking - our roads are in a state. All thanks to a Labour-Tory coalition too lazy to look after West Lothian properly.

We need to start actually repairing our roads for long-term use, reconditioning them to better suit Scotland's climate all whilst looking to new technology to make our roads last for good.

Rather than the current Labour-Tory plan of 'sticking plaster' temporary fixes which fail to address the underlying problems – worsening potholes in the long-term, damaging our cars and racking up an extortionate bill for the Council!

If the Labour-Tory coalition is flat out failing on something as simple as road maintenance, then it's clear we need some new local leadership.

So, let's have a Council who can get the basics right, with a plan to actually repair and improve our roads, by voting Callum #1 on December 11!

Fix our Roads

I will fight to reverse Labour’s decade of neglect of additional needs services for our children, ensuring every bairn gets a fair chance.

Being both an unpaid carer and disabled, I’ll uplift your voice (and needs) to a Council level while improving accessibility across West Lothian.

Better Additional Needs Services

Endorse the SNP’s plan to roll-out community-based walk-in GP services – I will call for West Lothian to be one of the 15 trials across Scotland.

Open 7 days a week, from midday to 8pm – no appointment needed; no more early morning phone call rushes and queuing!

Easier and Faster to see a GP

Labour’s austerity has exacerbated the root causes – with the Council cutting community police officers alongside services which benefit our young people.

Let’s start repairing the damage by bringing back youth clubs, support our local youth groups and taking mental wellbeing seriously!

Tackle Antisocial Behaviour

Our buses could be so much better – but the Labour Council are too slow in using powers to improve our services. Powers which are already available to the Council! 

Through partnerships, ownership or franchising, we can deliver cheaper, more reliable buses – expanding our routes, and ensuring service security for towns like Greenrigg and Seafield, as well as estates like Heartlands.

Despite being in the top 10 Councils for new builds, West Lothian one of the 13 Councils facing a declared Housing Emergency!

We must take the Housing Crisis seriously – let’s prioritise social housing and bring more empty vacant homes back into use for our families!

I’ll push to use all of local powers and tools to reduce your day-to-day costs as we overcome this Westminster-exacerbated Cost-of-Living Crisis!

Campaign for infrastructure which lowers bill and work to reduce the pressure on you by championing local and community wealth generation.

From our libraries to our nurseries to our swimming pools – the Labour-Tory coalition is shutting the doors to our communities.

To retain young families and maintain a strong workforce, I’ll campaign for investment in new amenities, opportunities and community enterprises – improving public health, mental wellbeing, local tourism and growth for our communities.
