What is EEG and How Does It Work?

Electroencephalography (EEG) is like having a window into your brain's electrical activity. Just as your heart produces electrical signals that show up on an ECG, your brain constantly generates electrical patterns that we can measure and interpret.

Think of your brain as a bustling city with billions of neurons communicating through electrical impulses. EEG sensors, placed on your scalp, can detect these electrical patterns without any invasive procedures - much like how you might hear the general buzz of activity from a busy street below your apartment window.

Brain Waves: Your brain produces different types of waves depending on your mental state:

1. Alpha Waves: Associated with relaxed awareness and calm focus
2. Beta Waves (12-30 Hz): Present during active thinking and concentration
3. Theta Waves : Linked to creativity and deep meditation
4. Delta Waves : Linked to deep sleep
5. Gamma Waves: Connected to high-level cognitive processing
