The 2026 Rooting & Rising Community Expo is Miss Julie’s first annual community event, created to inspire hope and introduce people to new possibilities. Through local businesses, free workshops, hiring employers, community resources, and shared stories, attendees can explore their interests, make new connections, and discover pathways they may not have considered before.

Free street parking is available on weekends. Free parking is also available at the Mortimer Street Garage, 25 N. Clinton Avenue.

Who are you looking for to participate?

Accepted Answer

We’re looking for people, businesses, and organizations that can introduce attendees to new opportunities, resources, skills, and possibilities.

Marketplace Vendors: Local small businesses, entrepreneurs, makers, and artists who want to sell their work and share the story behind what they’ve built.

Community Resources & Employers: Local organizations offering meaningful support and employers with opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds, including those who have faced barriers to employment.

Workshop Educators: People willing to volunteer their expertise or experience through workshops or demonstrations lasting 15 minutes to one hour. We especially welcome beauty professionals, entrepreneurs, workforce professionals, storytellers, and educators offering therapeutic or trauma in

What does it cost to participate, and does applying guarantee a spot?

Accepted Answer

Marketplace Vendors: Spaces range from $45 for a 6 foot space to $80 for a 10 by 10 space. A $15 donation to Miss Julie’s School of Beauty is submitted with your application and credited toward your final cost if accepted.

Workshop Educators: There is no fee. Educators volunteer their time and are encouraged, but not required, to make a minimum $15 donation.

Community Resources & Employers: Participation is free, but space is limited.

Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance. Applications are reviewed based on space, event needs, and alignment with the Expo. We do not accept participation involving alcohol, cannabis, sexually explicit content, political messaging, violence, hate, or discrimination.

There are several ways to help bring the Expo to life! Become a sponsor, volunteer your time, or help us spread the word.

Volunteers are needed for setup, Expo day support, helping attendees navigate the event, supporting vendors and workshops, and breakdown.
