@reportqueerhate is a queer-run, grassroots initiative in so-called Australia, designed to make reporting hate crimes against LGBTQIA+ people safer and more accessible.

We provide multiple channels for reporting—Instagram DMs, text, phone, and an online form—ensuring victims, family or friends of victims, or witnesses can share their experiences in a way that feels secure and comfortable. All reports are handled confidentially, with the option to remain anonymous.

Our goal is to address the systemic underreporting of queer hate crimes, which often stems from authority mistrust and a lack of accessible reporting options. By collecting and analysing this data, we aim to build a clearer picture of the prevalence and nature of queer hate crimes across the continent. 

This information will be used to publish regular reports, raise awareness of the hostility facing queer people today, and advocate for action and policy changes that better protect LGBTQIA+ people.

Mission Statement

@reportqueerhate is an independent, grassroots initiative run by and for the queer community. We are not affiliated with the police, government, or any institutional body. This independence is critical as many queer individuals have experienced harm, discrimination, or neglect at the hands of authority. 

Historically and presently police and government systems have failed to protect LGBTQIA+ folk; from the criminalisation of homosexuality, to the continued mistreatment and politicisation of queer people. For many, reporting to authorities can lead to further trauma, mistrust, or violence. We believe our community is best protected by ourselves.

Our focus is on collecting data, raising awareness, and advocating for systemic change.
