Is it a good day/ time for snorkelling?

If the wind is under 10knots, the sea is flat and the visibility is 3m or more, its probably a good day for snorkelling! However there are many factors at play, such as tide time, previous weather, strong hazardous current etc. So come in to Pleasure Divers and talk to the experts about your snorkelling adventure.

At most on a very high tide, its only 8mtrs or so deep out near the shipwreck.

Do I really need fins? Or flotation?

Yes to the fins! On both snorkel trails, you need to swim at least 100mtrs so the fins will certainly help you cover that distance with ease. Flotation is optional, and dependant on your age, health, swimming ability. But its always a good idea to wear a life jacket or at least take a pool noodle!

What will I see snorkelling?

Purchase a copy of the marine life book (Kaspa and Lawrence) for accurate ID of all species you might encounter while snorkelling at Magnetic Island

Can I keep my Snorkel Trail Swim Card

Of course! Yes! Its your momento from Maggie! However, if you don't wish to keep your card you can drop it back to Pleasure Divers after you're finished snorkelling, where it will be resold. This recycling of product contributes to our sustainability efforts and profits go back towards maintaining the trails.
