Who can join the club?

Anyone over 18. All abilities welcome. You don’t need to be fast. Just willing and keen to ride your bike!

Question 2

Do I have to be a meber of British Cycling to join?

Accepted Answer

No. You do not needto join British Cycling in order to join the club. Most club members do choose to join BC too however.

Question 3

Are there women riders?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The club is mixed and inclusive. Women are welcome on all club rides, however we do also have women only rides.

Question 4

What type of riding do you do?

Accepted Answer

Mainly road cycling. Social rides. Structured club runs. Time Trials. Occasional one-off events (Road Races, Hill Climbs). We also have regular gravel rides.

Question 5

Where do rides start?

Accepted Answer

Local start points around the Perth area. Details are shared before each ride. Typically the South Inch Carpark, Quarrymill, Pitcairngreen.

Question 6

What kit do I need?

Accepted Answer

Helmet is essential, gloves are recommended. For evening rides front and rear lights may be required. for TTs a rear light is mandatory. You must also carry spares to be able to fix a puncture.

Do I need a fancy bike?

Accepted Answer

No. Any safe, roadworthy bike is fine. As we are mostly road riding, a drop bar road bike is essential as they have the gearing for higher speeds that a group will ride on the road. For gravel rides, a gravel bike or MTB would be fine. Most time trial riders just use their road bike, so no dedicated TT bike is needed.

How fast are the rides?

It varies. Monday Night and Sunday Rides are social no-drop rides, so nobody gets left behind. Wednesday Training rides have different pace groups so you can find a group that suits you. Time Trials - everyone for themself!

Is it safe?

Accepted Answer

There's an accepted risk in any sport of course, especially when you are on public roads. We ride responsibly, follow the Highway Code, and use clear group rules.

Question 10

Can I try before joining?

Accepted Answer

Yes. New riders are welcome to come along and see if it’s for them. Our Monday Night rides are shorter rides and ideal for new riders to come and try - check our upcoming events for details.
