What is Ultimate Frisbee?

Ultimate is a non-contact invasion sport where a flying disc is progressed down the field by passing between teammates. The opposing team tries to intercept passes: an interception, out of bounds throw, or the disc touching the ground results in a turnover, giving the defending team an opportunity to score in the other direction. Players off the disc move freely, but the thrower may only pivot (cf. netball). Points are scored by catching the disc in the opponent's end zone. The sport is self-officiated at every level of play. Spirit of the Game is an overarching term used to describe the way that participants approach the sport of Ultimate. It encompasses core principles of sporting values, knowledge and fair application of the rules, attitude, communication skills, and respect for others. What are the current training times/venues?

During term time, we train outdoors at University Parks (near the entrance by Keble): split-gender on Wednesdays 7.30-9am and mixed on Saturdays 9-11am. These sessions are open to all regardless of experience or ability.

We also train indoors competitively, if you are interested in being part of our team for indoors tournaments please reach out through email/WhatsApp to hear about training times :)

Question 4

What are the different divisions, i.e. gender?

For BUCS competitions, there are separate men's and women's divisions but we abide by the UKU transgender policy which welcomes "all players to play in the division (or role in the mixed division) that they identify with." Outside of BUCS, we also play mixed tournaments both indoors and outdoors at the regional and national level.
