Nell Ziff Pekarsky played a pivotal role in Jewish life in America and Israel during the twentieth century. In 1994, over the course of a few evening sessions in her Hyde Park apartment in Chicago, Nell recorded several hours of conversation about her life experiences. The purpose of this project, NELL ZIFF PEKARSKY: WITNESS TO HISTORY, has been to preserve Nell's legacy and share it with future generations. Through the generosity of private sponsors, we are now able to see and hear Nell Ziff Pekarsky telling her story in her own words. 

As a key participant in world events, both as a leader and behind the scenes, Nell was a witness to history. With the encouragement of Hadassah's founder, Henrietta Szold, Nell accepted the position of National President of Junior Hadassah from 1938-41 at a time when it grew from 20,000 to 25,000 members to become the largest youth organization as well as the largest Zionist youth organization in the United States.
