Fiber on the Farm- WHILE WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE OUR TIME TOGETHER, AT THIS POINT THE MITCHELL TEAM IS TOO TAXED TO CONTINUE OUR KNIT NIGHTS FOR THE NEAR FUTURE. IF WE FIND DATES IN THE FALL, WE WILL ADD THEM. THE DELICATE BALANCE OF NURTURING A RAPIDLY GROWING COMPANY ALONG WITH OUR GREATEST PRIORITY, THE FLOCK, IS TAKING ALL OF OUR TIME. AND OF COURSE, WE NEED TIME FOR OUR FAMILIES AND PERSONAL HEALTH. WE LOVE EVERY ONE OF EWE AND WILL LOOK FORWARD TO THE TIMES WHEN WE CAN CELEBRATE COMMUNITY IN THE FUTURE! Be sure that you are registering for the date you wish to attend. You can select all as an option as well. Fiber on the Farm- Bring your current fiber project and join other like minded faRmily yarnie types in conversation and companionship in the Wool Shop. Crochet, knitting, weaving, spinning, macrame etc. Drinks and noshes provided. We'll also visit the sheep in the pastures (daylight permitting). This is not a lesson, just a time to get together and enjoy the farm with fiber friends. Beginners are welcome but we cannot provide qualified instruction. Cost per session $15. Limited to 25 attendees. Please note: Events are filled first come first serve. No exceptions. We welcome & encourage all perspectives, races, and gender expressions to join us. Entrance to and facilities within the shop are ADA accessible. We have one rule, which is open minds. We reserve the right to deny admission to any human for any reason. Aside from the colors you've grown to love, the classic hues that will hold the test of time and become the heirlooms our fiber is worthy of. The safe bets. Never super washed, the yarn in this collection has been naturally mordanted to lock in the color as much as possible. Spinning oils from the mill have been removed using plant based laundry soap. We then hand dye it ourselves using sustainably harvested plants, insects & food waste. Scroll down for details on each of our hand dyed color ways. Our best attempt will be made to select complimentary skeins for your project. 50g 155 meter/ 170+ yards 20.25 microns 3 ply woolen spun 5.5 sts per inch on US size 6 needles 22 sts = 4" crochet hook size G 6 dyed by hand on the farm using sustainably sourced plants, insect shells & food waste One skein = 3.75 bales of hay for the flock (Our critters consume 14 bales of locally grown hay per day from October - May when our pastures are resting. Your support puts hay in the barn and employs both the Mitchell team and the local hay grower.) Includes the fiber of our Cormo sheep: Darlene, Mary Jane, Mildred, Gertie, Mama, Lambie, Barb, Kathy, Linda, Charlotte, Meghann, Dolly Parton, John Lewis, Harriet Tubman, Lte. Dan, Lizzo, & Fanny And our BROWN cormo RAW flock includes - Chester, Tonya, MEPS, Jolene, Betsy & Cleo Natural dyes are like snowflakes, each skein will vary and you should alternate skeins throughout your piece to achieve a subtle blend. Do not dry or store in direct sun. Hand wash & care for it like the heirloom it is. Natural dyes soften & fade like your favorite jeans, getting softer in hue with time. This is not a defect. It's nature. BEGONIA- the YARN CENTRIK FEATURED COLOR It started with madder that Cindy skewed to the orangey range using vinegar. A super limited run of this delightful hue that reminds us of the spring hanging baskets! Carol's Coral Our Mom, Carol, loved the color CORAL so we've named this luscious shade in memory of her. Cindy achieved the hue using multiple dye processes of marigold and cochineal. Cochineal is a scaled insect that invades the Nopal Cactus that is roughly the size of a grain of rice. Cutch Cutch comes from the bark of the Acacia Catechu tree and was originally from India and regions of Asia. Ours is sourced from an American company that creates concentrates. Lac Violet hued and derived from the shell of an insect prevalent in India, SouthEast Asia and Nepal. Its use dates back to 250AD. We use lac concentrate and iron to develop this gorgeous soft blend of light dusky lavender hues. Madder Madder is derived from a root and has been used to dye rich reds since the 16 & 17th century, with found textiles retaining their color hundreds of years later! Originating from the subcontinent of India, Central Asia and Europe. *While not as prevalent as Indigo, madder is a natural dye that CROCKS. What does this mean? Red fingers: Read more here Mighty Mac This shade of true green has been a goal of Cindy & Sherry since we started out in this botanical dyeing venture. Green is tough, it doesn't seem like it would be but obtaining a true Irish/Kelly/Mossy/Spring Grassy goodness is kind of tricky. There was a lot of dull grey to get to this glorious GREEN. Cindy achieved it with Mulberry and chlorophyll. Pine Tree Green Made with Mulberry over our natural brown Cormo for a tonal deep hue Deepest Red Madder Madder over our natural brown Cormo for a deep tonal hue *While not as prevalent as Indigo, madder is a natural dye that CROCKS. That is some safe planet impact!!

This permanent glittery confection is heavy at the bottom and fades upward. Lending a little sparkle to your day. You can carry your sweater project in the most fabulous way now! Sherry's Sweater bag was designed seven ago when I learned to knit at a time when we had to travel exhaustively. It's why I took up knitting in fact, a project I could do on a plane to still keep a part of my creative self. I've since designed about 7 iterations and this is the result of the best details of tweaking the design over and over again. It's the perfect bag to fit an adult sweater project and all the skeins needed to produce it. Each pocket was thoughtfully designed, from a short pocket for Tuft hand balm, one for your stitch counter and one for a folded pattern. It holds pencils & needles and everything you might need. Including chocolate. It's tall enough to hold the majority of a bottle of wine. Just sayin. I don't knit nearly as much now that I have a farm with pastures full of sheep. The irony! Mine Is mostly used to haul my current sample knitting project, my water bottle, clipboard and a stack of feed & hay bills to pay as well as whatever knitting tools I'm trialing for the shop, spare shoes/socks/ pants..... it holds a lot of random stuff pretty easily is what I'm trying to convey.
