Mel Hocking

Raised by a musical Irish, Welsh and Scottish family, Mel Hocking (27) was immersed in a rich tapestry of sonic influences. Whilst Mel pursued a tech job in London after her studies, her piano and recording mic were always close at hand and songwriting remained an integral part of her life: she transformed the highs and lows of early adult life into heartfelt songs and found joy in crafting catchy melodies and raw, relatable lyrics. With a large back-catalogue of written material, Mel is stepping back from her business career and is collaborating with other musicians, playing gigs both locally in Edinburgh and abroad, and working in a Leith-based studio. Mel has released 2 singles, "Harder," (a moody love song with an upbeat Scottish flair) and "The Edge" (a dreamy, coming-of-age ballad), and her EP is on the way.
