What are head runs?

Head runs are weekly runs offered for beginner, intermediate, and advanced runners. These are great opportunities to stay active and meet like-minded runners!

How much does it cost?

For new and recurring members, the yearly fee is $5 for McGill-affiliated people, and $10 otherwise.

Payment will occur during the sign-up process.

Question 6

What are the paces for different run groups?

Accepted Answer

These are rough outlines! Head runners will curate the pace and distance depending on who attends each run!

Beginner: 2-4km @ 7:00+ min/km // 1.24-2.5mi @ 11:00+ min/mi

Easy: 4-6km @ 5:50-6:30+ min/km // 2.5-3.75mi @ 9:30-10:30+ min/mi

Intermediate: 7-10km @ 5:30-6:00 min/km // 4.4-mi @ 8:50-9:36 min/mi pace

Advanced: 8+ km @ 5:30 min/km (and below) // 5+ mi @ 8:50 min/mi (and below)

I'm not part of McGill, can I still join?

We welcome everyone! Once you register as a member, you can attend our head runs or a McRUN event. Be aware we will ask for a $15 membership fee instead of $7.

Question 8

I want to join but have never run before. What should I do?

Accepted Answer

Just sign up and come try it out! Our beginner level runs are tailored for absolute beginners. It is at your own pace and it is always okay to take breaks.

Our Head Runners will do everything they can to encourage you without pushing you too far beyond your comfort zone. Once you feel comfortable, please feel free to join faster runs!

Are you hiring?

We usually hire new headrunners at the beginning of the semester and occasional hire new VPs. Look out for application forms here!
