How do I submit a service request?

Pay attention, this is important!

For NON-EMERGENCY maintenance issues: 
- These issues may include: flooring, furniture, heating, cooling, or replacing a light bulb in a light fixture 
-  Please submit an online service request at maximo.ku.edu

FOR EMERGENCY REPAIRS, such as: overflowing or clogged toilet, sink or shower, broken door, window or lock, concerns with smoke detectors or fire extinguishers, and electrical issues.

- To report these issues in residence halls: contact the front desk
- For apartment residents: Jayhawker Towers residents call 785-864-8305. McCarthy residents will call 785-864-6545
- For Scholarship Hall residents: Contact your proctor or scholarship hall director.

Senior staff on duty will respond and notify KU Facilities Services of the emergency issue

How does room selection work?

Accepted Answer

To participate in room selection, you must have completed a Housing contract with paid application and enrollment fees. 
- Residents may pull ONE roommate. 
- Students on the standby list will not be able to participate in room selection and cannot be pulled in as a roommate. 
 
First-year Students
- Room selection process is in spring, prior to new student orientation. 
- You will be emailed your group number and use the room selection schedule to determine the time you are eligible to begin selecting.

Schol- Halls
- New incoming residents will be notified of their room assignments in late May to early June.
- Returning Schol-Hall residents will be assigned rooms at hall meetings in February

Returning Residents
- Room selection process in Dec. and Jan.

How do I cancel my contract?

Accepted Answer

To cancel your student housing contract: 
- Go to myKU portal
- Enter your KU onlined ID and password
- Select 'Student Housing'
- Select 'Sign into Housing'
- Select 'Cancel my housing contract'

The cancellation policy and charges are explained on the contract pages. If you are unable to sign in to myKU portal, send an email request to housing@ku.edu

What should I bring when I move-in?

Packing lists for residence and scholarship halls will vary slightly from the apartments.

Visit: https://housing.ku.edu/what-to-bring , to find out what you may be missing from your packing list.

A Few Tips: 
- Review the move-in checklist to see your room assignment, roommate information, and your confirmed arrival time. To find this information please go to your myKU portal!
- Don't forget your ID

Can I change my room assignment?

Accepted Answer

During the room selection period, until noon on January 24, you will have the ability to log into your myKU Portal and see all vacant spaces.

If a preferred space is available, you may select into that space.

Group numbers can be found in your myKU Portal under the "Room Selection Checklist" tab

How do I request a dining plan change?

Accepted Answer

To request a dining plan change: 
- Log into myKU portal 
- Sign into Student Housing under "Services"
- Select "Dining Plans"

Question 9

Where do I find my housing charges online to pay my bill?

Accepted Answer

To find your charge and make the payment online: 
1. Log into Enroll & Pay
2. Select Student Financials
3. Select Charges Due
