Birgisdóttir's nuanced practice explores ideas of beauty, utility, and context, continually questioning the relationship between perception and reality, specifically within anthropoid systems and consumption.

Throughout her practice, B. Ingrid Olson uses her own body as subject matter—bent knees, limbs, hands, and feet press up against mirrors and photographic surfaces, confusing points of contact between the figure and the picture plane—as well as the archival impulse that runs through her practice, with collections of objects, images, and gestures often gathered, repeated, and rhymed across the assembled works.

This year’s Globe of Goodwill, Holding Thread, by Loji Höskuldsson is now available at the museum shop. Each year, the Globe is sold as a limited edition, but in the last few years the Globe has sold out rather quickly, more often than not. All proceeds go to benefit children and young people with disabilities About this year’s edition, Loji says: “The only end that yields is the outer one – the other lies deep in the heart of the ball and can only be reached by winding one’s way through the entire journey. The aim is to avoid tangles, though they are almost inevitable, especially if you lose the thread along the way. Each ball of yarn is unique, as no two are wound the same. What seems easy to one person might be difficult for another. The journey requires patience and perseverence; it is not meant for those seeking quick answers or shortcuts. Unlike the chaos of everyday life, where attention is pulled in every direction, the ball of yarn offers only one loose end. That end is a constant source of warmth, ideas and possibility. That is where everything begins.

Set of porcelain salt and pepper shakers Each: 13.3 x 5.4 x 5.4 cm (5 1/4 x 2 1/8 x 2 1/8 inches)Edition of 500 Guilt and Fear is a limited edition sculpture; all 1000 shakers were installed in There is a song in my heart and a hammer in my brain, Ragnar Kjartansson's sixth solo exhibition at Luhring Augustine Chelsea. Presented in the rear gallery, rows of shelves line the wall, stacked with one thousand porcelain salt and pepper shakers: labeled “Guilt” and “Fear” respectively.Central to individual human psyches, guilt and fear have increased collectively in recent years as we have been confronted with social reckonings, the pandemic, growing disparities, wars, and global warming. Typically associated with negativity, these difficult feelings can also have positive effects when they force us to have greater empathy and sensitivity to situations outside of ourselves. This work is a tribute to these emotions; it is inspired by the Romantic ethos of valuing both our despairs and our desires related to the great matters of life and death, submission and control, and beauty and danger.Each set of Guilt and Fear is a numbered edition and comes packaged in a custom box. The work was produced in collaboration with Fabrique Céramique in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.
