Who are you?

We’re a volunteer collective built on the belief that Pride should be for everyone - authentic, inclusive, and rooted in the community it represents. Guided by our values of inclusivity, creativity, and kindness, we listen to and learn from local LGBTQIA+ voices to shape the events and activities we deliver. Through these, we aim to educate, celebrate, and strengthen understanding across the wider community, building a Heaton that is proud, welcoming, and connected.

Why do we need a Heaton Pride?

We need Heaton Pride to create a visible, joyful, and inclusive space that celebrates and affirms LGBTQIA+ lives in our local community. In a world where queer people still face discrimination, isolation, and erasure, Heaton Pride provides connection, solidarity, and pride right here in our neighbourhood - making it clear that everyone belongs.

Are you a registered not-for-profit?

Accepted Answer

No, we are a Constituted Volunteer Group, which means we are not fully registered as a charity or a company, but we have a binding set of terms and policies that keep our volunteers accountable and ensures that all of our actions contribute to our overall mission.

We have a clear set of principles that we expect all of our host venues, sponsors and volunteers to uphold. If we have any reason to believe that any stakeholder is not adhering to these principles, we will take clear steps to distance ourselves and protect our community.

Can anyone take part?

Absolutely! This is a fully inclusive organisation and we would like to welcome anyone with kind intentions to join us. Heaton Pride is a family-friendly, inclusive event open to all who support and celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community.

Question 5

What relationship do you have with the businesses of Heaton?

We have built relationships with the local independent businesses throughout Heaton over the last few years as community members. When we initially formed the idea of Heaton Pride, our friends at Tipsy Toad and Last Resort were keen to support us through their existing business relationships. It was through these relationships within the Heaton community that Heaton Pride was born. Any business taking part is kindly loaning us their venue to host our events or working collaboratively with our team to organise events, specials, etc.

The Heaton Pride Committee are very grateful to have such a cooperative working relationship with so many of the independetly owned Heaton businesses and hope to work together to build a safer, more inclusive Heaton for everyone.

Where does any money raised go?

We are 100% not for profit! All proceeds from 2026 Heaton Pride were donated directly to The Wardrobe, to support the amazing work they do in creating a safe space for gender expression!
