Acrylic yarn can be washed in the washing machine on cool temperatures, but this can lead to snags and the item becoming misshapen.

Handwashing will extend the life of the item and give you better results.

Just fill a bowl with lukewarm water and add in your preferred detergent or soap nuts. (The milder the better)
Soak for around 20 minutes.

Then gently lift out the item, being careful not to let it stretch, and squeeze (not wring) any excess water out.

Refill the bowl with clean water at the same temperature and place the item back in for another 10-15 minutes.

Lift the item out and squeeze excess water out again.
Lay the item flat and out of direct sun to dry.

Acrylic Yarn

Socks can go in the washing machine, but are best washed by hand.

If you are machine washing, I recommend placing them inside a mesh vegetable bag or a pillowcase tied closed to avoid snags or pulls from other items. They can go on any cycle up to 30 degrees, but the gentle/wool cycle is best.

To hand wash, fill a bowl with pH neutral wool wash or soap nuts and submerge for around 20 minutes. Squeeze the excess water out.

Refill the bowl with clean water at the same temperature as before and soak for another 15 minutes. Squeeze out excess water. (If your detergent is non-rinse you can skip this step)

Lay flat to dry away from direct sunlight
