No Such Happily Ever Afters

No Such Happily Ever AftersEmma L ChesterPaperbackHarper Marshall is a burned-out writer who has made her living in selling heartbreak: a tragic ending is her signature style and there is no room for anything resembling a happily ever after because... there's no such thing. Enter Charlie Grant: mechanic, small-town golden boy, and Harper's brother's best friend (and now the Best Man in his wedding). After a strange twist of fate, Charlie becomes the man responsible for helping Harper save her brother's winter wedding, and Harper is determined to return to New York unscathed. And as wedding-planning-pressure wears on the pair, Harper and Charlie strike a deal to complete a series of "happy-ending-inspiring activities" in hopes of helping Harper write her new novel, in exchange for making this winter wedding a success. Through this process, Harper will be forced to confront not only the hurt she left behind in the small town of Pinecrest, Connecticut but the even deeper hurt that lies within her. Will Harper be able to change the ending of her story and learn that happy endings come in more than one form, or is she destined to be the "Heartbreaker" forever? No Such Happily Ever Afters is a contemporary Christian romance novel about coming home for the holidays and finding the greatest ending of all.

What was surprising, was the fact that it was Charlie Grant, her brother's best friend, that came to her rescue. Harper was simply coming to town for her brother's wedding, and hopefully some time to work on her novel (whose impending deadline she continues to ignore), but instead, she is forced to take on the role of "maid of honor" and "wedding planner" for her soon to be sister-in-law, while confronting the tragedy that has occurred while she's been gone. With the help of Charlie, Harper begins checking off wedding to-do's and confronting the death of her inner child that she's neglected for too long, in hopes of re-discovering the meaning of a happy ending, but this proves to be harder than she thought as she realizes that she is her own greatest enemy, stopping her from having her storybook life. As her deadline draws closer, she must try her best to write a story that she can be proud of, while mending her relationship with those she pushed away all those years ago when she stopped believing. In the end, Harper must decide: will she believe that she is worthy of a happily ever after, and keep the Prince that comes along with it? Or is there truly “no such thing”?
