Amethyst & Sapphire

Amethyst & SapphireDylan LongPaperbackWhat do you do when the home you built from the ground up gets deleted behind a screen? Amethyst & Sapphire is not a curated book of comforting fiction. Written in the immediate, raw aftermath of a sudden separation, this creative non-fiction poetry collection serves as a real-time, chronological autopsy of a modern five-year relationship fractured by digital phantoms, hidden devices, and broken boundaries. Through an unvarnished blending of standard verse, unedited journal entries, and raw emotional reflections, author Dylan Long maps out the entire trajectory of a mythic love—moving fluidly from the euphoric, pink-lit sanctuary of a first Valentine’s Day in Texas to the paralyzing, cold silence of discovering hidden secrets within an iPad, all the way to the quiet, grueling survival of waking up alone at square one in a childhood bedroom. Divided into three distinct, high-contrast narrative arcs—The Foundation & The Fractures, Broken Vows, and Square One—this collection chronicles the universal anatomy of grief, the exhausting reflex of breaking a trauma bond, and the sharp double standards of private emotional distance versus public performance. Ultimately, Amethyst & Sapphire is not a story of defeat. Accompanied by minimalist, hand-drawn line illustrations, it is a fierce, defiant testament to self-reclamation. It is a book for anyone who has ever had to navigate the haunting geography of a ghost, anyone fighting to stabilize their own nervous system after betrayal, and anyone remembering that their soul still belongs entirely to their own name. "Let the storm come heavy. I am no longer the wreckage—I am the architect of what comes next."
