I walked in as a basic white girl with zero ability to pronounce anything on the menu and walked out a changed woman. I’m pretty sure I butchered the names of everything I ordered, but the staff was incredibly patient and didn't even laugh at my struggle.
The service was impressively fast. We showed up during a quiet window, and we were heading home with a massive bag of food just 15 minutes later.
As for the food, the Butter Chicken was phenomenal and the Gongura Dal had the perfect kick. I might not know exactly how to say it, but I definitely know I’ll be back to order it again. If you’re looking for authentic Indian cuisine and a staff that can handle someone pointing at the menu and hoping for the best, this is the spot.
Pro Tip: Get the Mango Lassi. It's the perfect reward for successfully surviving the ordering process.
We’ve visited Dosa Grill multiple times in the past, hoping the service would improve, but unfortunately, it has only gotten worse.
Every visit has come with long wait times, incorrect orders, and a confusing system where customers who ordered after us received their food first. On our most recent visit, the dosa was cold and tasteless, with cold, mushy potato stuffing inside. The vada lacked flavor as well. I asked for extra sambar but never received it.
On a previous visit, guests who arrived after us were seated while we were told to wait 30–45 minutes. That day, we decided to leave.
The service structure itself seems flawed — one server takes the order and another brings the food. If you ask the second server for anything additional, don’t expect follow-through. Requests seem to go in one ear and out the other.
This place has truly gone downhill. Ownership should step out and see what it really means to serve flavorful food and provide attentive customer service. My family is done dining here — yesterday was our last visit.
UPDATE: February 2026 - Went back to this place because I was hungry and happened to be in the area. I remembered the food being good but the service not so much.
So, the service was a little better as they had two people in the dining area during lunch hour at 12:40pm. Better than the last time. The food is still good - I ordered the Dosa Combo that comes with Masala Dosa with all the chutneys and Sambar as well as a Vada, an Idli and some dessert (Halwa) - for $17. Not too bad. However, the masala stuffing in the dosa was barely warm. I would have liked it to be very hot. Especially since it cools down so fast when it just sits there while you eat.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
August, 2025 - Poor service but amazingly good food. I arrived at 1 pm for lunch and found just one person taking orders and attending customers. It wasn’t very busy but just one server- Dan was doing his best. As I stood and waited nearly 10 minutes to get a table, poor Dan was taking orders alone, while the manager appeared to be sitting on a video call with family and chit chatting without looking up even once. The tables were left uncleaned. Finally Dan assigned me a seat and handed me a menu. I ordered a masala dosa and it arrived nice and hot within 10 minutes. The dosa was fantastic and the sauces and sambar were delicious.
If you have the time and the patience, you will be very pleased.
One server at lunch hour is ridiculous while the manager appeared preoccupied and completely unaware of people waiting to be seated. Kudos to Dan who kept calm and running around each table and apologetic.
I blame management for not doing more to have better service because the food was good. I tipped Dan 20% for his job!
