On the 7th July 2026, FRFI were set to have a film showing of ‘Jenin Jenin’ a documentary on the aftermath of the second intifada from the Palestinian perspective. Heidi Bachram, a prominent local Zionist, harassed the venue, the charity commission and the police about the showing of the film framing it as a film endorsing terrorism.

This is in the context of extreme crackdowns on pro-Palestinian solidarity, particularly the criminalisation of the term Intifada. A term that in Arabic means “to shake off” or “uprising”. In this context intifada is referring to a historical event, that being the second intifada that occurred from 2000-2005. It is not illegal to show this documentary nor is it illegal to acknowledge Palestinian history.

However due to fear of backlash and harm done to the venue the Brighthelm had to temporarily cancel the film showing, and the venue is now under investigation by the charity commission. This is a clear attempt to silence and scare venues into not holding

About our campaign

Email the Charity Commission to call on them to drop their investigation into the Brighthelm Centre and to not give into Zionist harassment and attempts at censorship.
