Over the years, I’ve shaped my sound through deep studio work — from immersive residencies like Real World Studios (UK) to collaborations with visionary producers such as Andreas Bruhn (The Sisters of Mercy). My creative process blends analog warmth, ambient textures, and emotional depth to serve stories that demand atmosphere and soul.

As a singer-songwriter, cancer survivor, and musicologist, I create with intention. Every track is crafted to evoke — whether it’s for a quiet moment on screen or a dramatic arc. Hey! I’m DARK BLONDE — a cinematic dark pop maniatic that plays with contrasts and atmosphere. 🩵

I work closely with producer Andreas Bruhn (The Sisters of Mercy) to create immersive, atmospheric soundscapes, always with storytelling in mind. Behind the project, it’s me — Birgit Fischer, a singer, songwriter, and producer trained in Hamburg and New York. I first stepped into the spotlight as the frontwoman of Motorsheep, where I received the John Lennon Talent Award.

My music is very personal, shaped by transformation and resilience, and blends art pop, ambient, and darkwave into an emotional, cinematic journey. How do we stay creative as indie artists? How do we release music with purpose? How do we support each other beyond algorithms?

These questions inspired us — two Hamburg-based singer-songwriters, Birgit Fischer (aka DARK BLONDE) and Barbara Duchow (aka Lunattack) — to start a monthly IG Live series where we talk openly about music, the creative process, and the reality of being independent.

We go live once a month on Tuesdays at 7pm CEST from our IG profiles: @birgitfischermusic & @lunattackofficial — in English & German.
