It’s with enormous gratitude for the fast-expanding Linktree family that we’re able to share happy news of just hitting our 5 millionth subscriber! 🚀
To say we’re a little bit excited about this one would be downplaying it…
It’s been a pinch-us kind of week as we watched our user numbers nudge ever closer to the big five-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh (people say that right?). Just ahead of the weekend, we landed it, and virtually the Linktree team popped corks via Zoom while laughing at each other’s overgrown hair-dos.
As a team that’s headquartered in Australia, it feels incredibly special to us to have achieved support for our product in such a global way. (90% of our subscribers are outside of Australia). Something that grew from a pain point our founders had experienced first-hand, while managing social media accounts for artists in the music industry, resonates even more now than it did when we first launched in 2016.
And that growth is revving up. Five million subscribers means we’ve almost doubled our user base in just nine months – which we take as evidence of the amazingly creative and entrepreneurial place digital is right now. More people than ever before are seeking ways to unify their content output and amplify their businesses or ideas. We are so inspired by our users that we’ve got a lot of plans for how we’ll help them grow next.
It’s down to you
We’re taking a moment to feel warm, fuzzy gratitude for every body who has helped get us here. And who better to summarize that than Linktree co-founder and CEO, Alex Zaccaria? Here’s Alex:
“I want to say an enormous thank you to everyone in our community who has supported us so far – the local and international startup communities, the early adopters who were only too keen to spread our message, the media that’s given us coverage, the mentors, the advocates and importantly, the killer team we’ve built around us at Linktree. We couldn’t have done it without any part of that village.”
That sentiment is echoed right the way across the Linktree team, from our Australian offices, to our LA outpost and our remote workers around the globe.
Alex shared some of the key lessons he’s learned on the path to 5 million:
- Unless you are supremely niche, your pain point is likely shared by others.
- Business ideas don’t have to be complex to work out.
- Invest in talent. Growing our team grew our business.
- It’s never too early to build for scale.
- The future of online centers around discovery.
Where next for Linktree?
We’re very humbled to have achieved this growth at a time when many industries are having to pause – in fact, we’re aware that in part that growth comes from the way businesses have needed to digitally up-skill with speed in this difficult period.
We’ve seen high growth from education, health and fitness, charities (who get free PRO), hospitality and streamers as these businesses find new ways to reach their audiences and to share experiences online. We will keep supporting this lasting shift online, and will stay laser-focused on the next needs of the internet’s users.
In the last few weeks we’ve rolled out a stack of new features and have grown our team – doubling our engineering team and adding brains to our data, marketing and growth teams. We’ll continue to hire across product, customer support, design and growth in the months ahead.
We’re also working on the integrations and partnerships that will bring you lot the most value – we’ve been listening to the new ways Linktree subscribers want to use the tool and have a lot in store in the next couple of months!
