With the U.S. presidential election right around the corner, Linktree remains committed to upholding the Community Standards that keep our Linkers safe and well-informed.
A quick refresher of the Electoral Fraud section of those Standards:
Don’t use Linktree to impede your local/national electoral process, which includes misleading the public about where and how to participate, or about who can participate, and selling or attempting to sell your right to vote.
Why is this type of content harmful?
Linktree is your home on the Internet, a place where you can share the many facets of your identity – hobbies, interests, opinions, the works! We constructed our Community Standards to ensure that everyone can enjoy that experience safely and click a Linktree link without fear of what may be on the other side. Content that violates our Community Standards by misrepresenting how to vote, when to vote, or who is eligible to vote jeopardizes the community’s trust and affects important, real-world processes. Similarly, content that deters the public from voting, encourages violence, disseminates hate speech, or impersonates others is also strictly prohibited on the platform.
What is Linktree doing to combat electoral fraud?
Our Trust & Safety team uses both manual and machine learning efforts to detect content that may violate our Standards, including anything that may fall under our Electoral Fraud guideline. Linktree also works with several external parties to better understand trends and identify violative content.
How do I know if something I read is true?
Misinformation and disinformation regarding the voting process in the United States is more common than you think. Do your research, use fact checking resources such as FactCheck and Politifact, and lean on trusted, verified sources over individual contributors.
You can visit Vote.org for accurate, detailed information about voter eligibility and the voting process in your state. You can also check your voter registration via our very own Linktree voter registration hub, which we've created in partnership with Vote.org.
