About Me

My Call

From a young age, I felt God’s call to missions in Japan. I prepared by majoring in the Japanese language and completing seminary. I worked at a church in Japan for two years after graduation and had expected to return for life. When that door closed, God led me to a career in manufacturing. Even then, He faithfully kept Japan on my heart and provided ministry opportunities with Japanese connections. He never forgot the call. I hadn’t either.

A couple years ago, God released me to pursue ministry in Japan. Step by step, He's guided me. On a Sunday morning in January, I asked God for confirmation. He was direct and quick to answer with the theme verse of that sermon: “Here I am. Send me” (Is 6:8). I replied, “Okay, God. Let's go."

Having grown up in The Christian and Missionary Alliance, I applied with this organization to join an existing team in Japan in ministry. My heart resonates with the mission to bring All of Jesus for All the World, in particular, to the least-reached people of the world. Japan is one of these areas where only 1% of the population would identify as Christian. Most haven't had a chance to hear who Jesus is and how much He loves them.

Our vision is to create a community of light that introduces people to Jesus, His presence, and His joy so people put their faith in our Comforter and Savior for eternal life.

The Mission and Vision

I will join two teams in Japan. One team works in Sendai at a church plant, looking to grow the presence of Jesus in that neighborhood. Sendai is a city of about 1 million people, and people move here for work and school. The church focuses much of their efforts toward university students who have more availability in their schedules. Various events are held to create community as well as meet the felt need of practicing English.

Ministry in Sendai

The other team is in Ishinomaki which is a 1-hour drive from Sendai. The team’s vision is to create community through arts, education, sports, and soul care with the intent of introducing people to Jesus and planting a community of believers. Having been hit with the 2011 tsunami, Ishinomaki has unique challenges like higher poverty and many single parent homes. Current team members share Jesus through a hot breakfast program for kids, seminars to socially isolated folks return to society, gospel choirs, and creating safe educational spaces for students.
