Cornerstone (CTIL) still awaiting pre-application feedback from Tandridge Planning Authority. This paid, confidential service assesses the likelihood of approval.

Potential outcomes:
* If refused – CTIL will likely abandon this site and seek alternatives.
* If acceptable – CTIL will submit a Prior Approval application. Tandridge will then notify nearby residents by letter or email, with an application number to view and object via the online planning portal.

The decision timeline is 3-8 weeks from submission. This is when public awareness matters most. High volumes of objections on material planning grounds increase perceived sensitivity of the site and the likelihood of refusal.

Material planning grounds include:
* Design – height, appearance, foundations
* Siting – proximity to residential area, park amenity, ancient woodland, Roman road

Other concerns (health, land value, etc.) can be raised for context, but Tandridge will focus primarily on the material planning grounds above.

VMO2:  Virgin Media O2 is a British telecommunications company, and one of the UK's four main mobile network operators.  The proposed mast would be to expand their 4G and 5G mobile network coverage.

CTIL:  Cornerstone Telecommunications Infrastructure Ltd. is a mobile and digital infrastructure provider in the UK.  They would own and manage the proposed installation site, and oversee construction works on behalf of VMO2.

MGroup:  M Group Telecom Ltd. is an infrastructure services provider in the UK.  They are acting as an agent on behalf of CTIL for this planning consultation.

Who are the involved companies?

Installation: A new 80ft (24.8m) triangular lattice tower with eight (8) antennas and dishes for 5G signal coverage, and ancillary cabinet at ground level, all mounted on a 4.4m square concrete base (1m deep), and surrounded by a 6m square welded mesh fenced enclosure (2m high).

Location: Next to the playground at the top of Beechwood Gardens and Tillingdown Hill, opposite Gaist Avenue (Caterham, CR3 6NH)

This proposed installation is:
* less than 2m from the children's playground
* on top of the 'London to Brighton Way' Roman Road that runs beneath Tillingdown Hill and the playground area (high archaeological importance)
* less than 10m from protected Ancient Woodland and veteran trees (irreplaceable habitat over 400 years old)
* less than 50m from the 'Surrey Hills' designated and protected Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
* within a Biodiversity Opportunity Area (Stony Hill West SNCI), part of a 'Local Nature Recovery Strategy' covering protected habitats and protected species

1. Take Action, Make Your Voice Heard:
- Email your objections to Peter Cherry (peter.cherry@mgroupltd.com), who is leading this initial consultation on behalf of CTIL and VMO2.
- Copy (CC) our local councillor (cllr.jenny.gaffney@caterhamvalleypc.org.uk).
- Include the relevant mast ID in the email subject (CTIL_240231_20).

2. Stay Informed:

3. Get Involved:
