Cameras

Replay Review Live uses a minimum of 3 primary cameras. The 1st two cameras will be behind the backstop looking down each foul line, & the 3rd camera will be the POV of the Base Umpire (attached to his hat). This 2nd camera angle, will give a closer & more credible look at plays, than cameras setup further away!

I’d like to CHALLENGE!

After a play, if a coach disagrees, they’ll communicate to the Umpires that they’d like to Challenge! [You can find rules on the main page]

Going to Review

The Replay Review Official & or Non-Calling Umpire, will then go to the iPad near the backstop. He/she will then plug in the camera(s), open the video, & review the challenged play! He/she will then (Depending on the Rule Set) either use Indisputable Video Evidence OR an Informed Judgenent, when reveiwing the play - to either CHANGE or UPHOLD the call. And in less than 45-90 seconds total, he/she will make a call, & resume play!

IJR - Explained

At the professional and collegiate levels, replay systems operate under Indisputable Video Evidence (IVE)—meaning a call is only overturned when the video provides clear and obvious visual proof, and you are 100% certain of the outcome.

If that level of certainty is not achieved, the call stands — and an incorrect call cannot be changed, even if you are 98% or 99% sure it should be.

Replay Review Live does not use this standard.

Instead, we apply Informed Judgment Review (IJR).

IJR allows a call to be changed when the available video—across all angles—provides a clear, consistent, and confident understanding of what actually occurred, without requiring 100% certainty.

If IVE were used within our system, a large portion of super close plays would not be able to be Confirmed or Changed.

What does Multi-Field mean exactly?

Replay Review Live offers the worlds FIRST Multi-Field, Replay Review Service! This means your tournament can have between 1 - 12+ fields that have Replay Review Available, for mutiple games, at the same time! 🤯

How is everything setup?

Before the event starts, our Replay Review Official will set up all the field Cameras & iPads, & setup a docking station near the Tournamemt Staffing area. This is where Base Umpires will recieve & return their POV camera every game.

Why a POV Camera?

Accepted Answer

Accessibility, Affordability, & Practicality. Having any other cameras (besides the backstop) either manned or not, is just about Impossible to satisfy all 3 criterias effectively, at the same time. More importantly, ‘Non-Elevated Side-Cameras’ will at many times not give the viewable angles needed to review a call.

Do we need internet or power at all?

No Internet, & the only power that is needed is at the R.R.L. Table, where the roational-cameras will be charged by our Replay Review Offcial, using an outlet.

What if it Rains!?😱

Don’t worry, all equipment is weatherproof! That includes rain & high temperatures!

Are services provided for only one day?

Accepted Answer

Most tournament structures are set up with the last day of the tournament being bracket play & single elimination, with some having even 2 days of bracket play. So our services are capable of spanning mutlple days, especially if a Tournament wants Pool Play to have Replay Review as well! (Seeding is very important for bracket play as well)

What happens if a game gets canceled? Or Teams drop out?

Firstly, before our services are used, there will be a simple agreement to help keep record of important information such as Pricing, total games played, etc. If Teams drop last second, this can be adjusted up until the start of the tournament. But once the tournament starts, the only refundable games will be games that are cancelled due to Wheather.

Can we Lease your system permanently at our Tournaments & or Complex?

Yes you can! In fact, that is the only way you can legally implement this system in any tournament or game throughout the country! We have a Patent & Licensing on this Replay Review Process! [See our Equipment Leasing & Installment page for more information]

Who Operates the Replay Review?

We know Practicality & being a fast pace are vital. Thats why we’ve created a super simple process, where the cameras record on there own & when radioed to a field, the RRO simply plugs in & Reviews!

How long does it take to overturn a Call?

We know Tournament ganes usually have time limits, & like to stay on schedule! So we’ve make sure that a call can be Reviewed in an astonishing 45-90 seconds!

How easy is Replay Review for Umpires?

SUPER SUPER EASY. Frankly, all yoh do is where a POV camera that you can barley notice is on your head!

What if the Camera gets hit or moved?

Not a problem, just notify the Replay Review Official. (RRO) They will get if fixed asap without having to stop the game!

What happens if there are Technical Difficulties?

Accepted Answer

Technical Difficulties & Camera Malfunctions will happen in all walks of life. If somehow BOTH individual cameras & or iPad malfunction during the game, Umpires should not delay the game, & simply notify the RRO, return the Teams Challenge, & Resume Play!

How much does the camera weight?  And Will I notice it on my hat?

For us Umpires, the weight of the Camera & Mount together is 2.5oz (79g). For reference, 1 pound is 16oz (453g) So while you’ll notice it on your hat, there is no concern for discomfort!
