Hailing from Utrecht in The Netherlands, Grey Aura create a liquid form of atmospheric black metal which shifts between forms like quicksilver, flowing over the boundaries of genres, slipping between cracks in the restrictive walls that surround them. Their second album, Zwart Vierkant, is breathtaking in its breadth and independence, dazzling in its ambition and utterly enthralling and all consuming in its complexity of vision. The collision of raging fury and romance within songs like ‘Sierlijke Schaduwmond’ is bewitching, the sweet, smoky jazz of ‘Parijs Is Een Portal’ is, as suggested, a doorway to another time, another world, another reality. The album is bound tightly to a novel written by Grey Aura’s Ruben Wijlacker which tells the story of an early 20th century painter who becomes obsessed with the Russian art movement, Suprematism, which idealises the abstract and rejects traditional artistic concepts. It follows his journey through Europe, his metamorphosis of soul and spirit, his dreams, awakenings, loves and temptations as he reaches out to the ungovernable maelstrom of the void. Each song on Zwart Vierkant is imbued with the sensuality of the tale, rife with its mysteries and laden with its ambiguities and suggestive power. It is an album like no other from a band that reach further, look deeper and explore beyond the limits of imagination. Grey Aura have never dealt in simple concepts; their debut album Waerachtighe Beschryvinghe Van Drie Seylagien, Ter Werelt Noyt Soo Vreemt Ghehoort, which was released by Blood Music in 2016, told the tale of Willem Barentsz’ third and final journey to find a north-eastern passage to Asia in 1596. However, with Zwart Vierkant they have created a piece of art which will astound even those who have previously followed them on that epic voyage. *** PRE-ORDER - RELEASES JANUARY 10th *** Founded in 2018 by Dornh and Wynthar, Harvst represents atmospheric black metal that distances itself from common stereotypes, instead focusing on themes such as time, transience, personal transformation and existence. Completed by Raụch on drums, Harvst is now a trio, wrapping their message in melodic, intense, and diverse music- always with an eye on the essence, steering clear of clichéd templates. After their debut album “Narbenhain” (2019), Harvst opens a new chapter with “Mahlstrom”. The creation of this album was an intense and lengthy process that significantly developed the band and their music. It is the result of five years of deep engagement, marked by challenges, insights, and growth. “Mahlstrom” embodies the constant movement between past and present, between heaviness and lightness, chaos and structure. With the addition of Raụch on drums, the sound of the project became even more versatile. Harvst is particularly proud of their collaboration with Nick Superchi (Ceremonial Castings), who delivers a special guest contribution on Mahlstrom II. While “Narbenhain” focused on reimagining remnants of old ideas, Mahlstrom is a work built from the ground up, shaped by a deeply collaborative creative process. Harvst remains true to their vision of translating atmosphere, melody, and intensity into a diverse soundscape. Mahlstrom blends the harshness and drama of black metal with reflective moments and epic melodies. Each song tells its own story, woven into a larger concept that, beneath the surface of a nautical metaphor, explores personal depths and examines the process of letting go. The album will be released in collaboration with Schattenpfade, Onism Productions, and Crawling Chaos Records, and will be available as a high-quality digipack with a 20-page booklet in a limited edition.

Harvst - Mahlstrom

In agreement with Ante-Inferno and Vendetta Records, three UK labels have each released their own cassette tape edition of "Death's Soliloquy" - the forthcoming album from one of the rising forces in the UK black metal scene. Onism Productions, Matriarch Records, and Forbidden Keep Records have individually worked on unique versions limited to 50 copies each. The Onism edition comes on dual-sided red & black cassette tapes with on-body printing, and a J-card featuring the artwork and additional text. Presented in clear cases. The tapes will release on November 29th, one week after the album's official release on digital and other formats.

Woe Bearer - Thriving Within the Absurdity of the Human Plight [Tape]

Botgörelsen, Wrekan and Astral Lore come together to release a three-way split album of Austerity, Despondency & Longing. Raw and bleak black metal from the underground.Some may be familiar with Botgörelsen already through their debut album which was released previously on Onism, and you can expect more of that Swedish sound here, with the two tracks expanding further on their emotional and folkloric approach.Wrekan is also a one-man project from Sweden, and inject something harsher and more anti-life into the split. Botgörelsen / Wrekan / Astral Lore - Austerity - Despondency - Longing

Morvigor are preparing to release a brand new EP; titled De spiegel, the two tracks mark a new beginning for the Dutch four piece. Having released their previous album in 2017, the band has emerged from a period of metamorphosis with renewed purpose and a clear vision for their future.Morvigor embody expressive black metal, their elongated missives are propelled forward with an energy that makes their unorthodox approach feel visceral and vital. Mixing both clean and harsh vocals, abrasive sounds and more mellow, ambient passages, the band invite us to join them on a journey that willfully wanders off the beaten track. The scope of their music veers towards the cinematic as they sweep through progressive and post-metal territory, while the embrace of blistering black metal is rarely far from sight.Although they view their cryptic lyrics as a nonessential part of the Morvigor experience, they traverse themes of existentialism, absurdism, and philosophical thought anchored in feelings of alienation, curiosity, anxiety and wonder. Lyrics are written as a stream of consciousness by bassist Evio, with his individual experiences flowing freely through short bursts of intuitive, freeform writing. Each word sung or note played is an individual expression of an individual experience of existence.The expansive tracks on De Spiegel spread their tendrils over a twenty minute run time, each song unfurling with confidence and a flair for experimental expression. Recorded in 2022 in the The Netherlands, the EP was then mixed by Daniel Souza and mastered by Jack Shirley; De Spiegel will be released on CD, vinyl, tape and digital formats by Onism Records and Vita Detestabilis Records.
