Orestes P. Monzon is a physician art collector, turned visual artist. As he learned how to paint, he discovered a new window and realized that medicine and art could offer unique opportunities for others. At 70, he opened his First Solo Exhibit, “A Tiny Seed Becomes a Lovely Tree,” featuring 70 paintings, launching a late-career as a visual artist. He has been published in the Philippine Daily Inquirer, magazines, and coffee table book, “Soul Searchers and Dreamers” by Alma C. Miclat. He is a retired professor of Radiology and Bioethics at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Santo Tomas, a past chairman of the Department of Radiology at the UST Hospital, and the Department of Nuclear Medicine at the Philippine Heart Center and Cardinal Santos Medical Center. He is currently a member of the Philippine Board of Radiologic Technology at the Professional Regulation Commission. He is married to Edna Garayblas and blessed with four children.
