Who can use the Link Labs?

The Link Labs is open to all Anaheim Public Library cardholders 13 and up. Parent/guardian permission is required for cardholders ages 13-17. Children 12 and under must always be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the same station in the labs; children cannot use a station by themselves. The computers in this space are for Link Labs projects only; patrons needing computers for general use may utilize the Adult, Teen, and Children's computer labs as appropriate.

Where is the Link Labs?

The Link Labs is located at Haskett Branch, 2650 W Broadway, Anaheim, CA 92804.

The Link Makerspace can be accessed through the double doors across from the Check-Out desk. The Link Media Lab is located to the right of the red tunnel leading to our Children's library.

How do I get started?

Plan ahead. First-time users must complete the Orientation to the Link Labs as well as a corresponding Equipment Orientation, regardless of skill level. In-person orientations are scheduled per staff availability and may be conducted during the first 15-30 minutes of a reservation.

Once you are a member of the Link Labs, you can reserve any station for which you’ve completed an Equipment Orientation. Reservations may be made at least 24 hours in advance by contacting the Link Labs during library hours. Same-day reservations must be made in person, and subject to availability. You may reserve a station for two (2) hours per reservation per day. Contact staff for more information.

Do I need training or experience?

No experience is required. Equipment Orientations include a basic introduction to the station and how to start your first project. If you would like more guidance, we will offer classes monthly. We also have many resources in our physical and digital collections.

Question 5

Do you provide materials?

Accepted Answer

The Link Makerspace has a select amount of materials available free to use for patrons. Monthly limits may apply. Otherwise, you may bring in your own materials that are on the staff-approved list. Other materials may be denied use in the lab unless or until staff can verify its safe handling. Please contact staff for a complete list of approved materials
