1.	I don’t know who my advisor is.

Log in to myLSUS, select the Advising tab, and click Advisor Information to view your assigned advisor. If no advisor is listed, contact the advising team in the Student Success Center at advising@lsus.edu or 318-795-2486.

2.	I’m newly admitted – how do I get advising?

Accepted Answer

If you are not yet officially admitted or your admission is still processing, you will not have an assigned advisor in myLSUS. Confirm admission status with the Admissions office (admissions@lsus.edu, 318-797-5061). After Admissions clears your record, your academic advisor will be assigned and will appear in myLSUS. Once this occurs, you can schedule an advising appointment. Contact the Student Success Center for assistance at 318-795-2486 or success@lsus.edu.

Question 3

3.	I cannot register for classes.

Accepted Answer

Check the following in myLSUS:
•	Your registration window may not be open yet.
•	You may have a registration hold.
•	You may not have completed advising for the semester.
•	The class may be full or restricted.
•	You may not meet the course prerequisite.
If you are unsure what the issue is, contact your academic advisor.

4.	The class I need is full.

Accepted Answer

Contact your academic advisor to discuss options. Your advisor can help you:
•	Identify alternative course options
•	Adjust your schedule
Determine whether an override request may be appropriate

Question 5

5.	I need permission to enroll in a course.

Accepted Answer

If a course requires special permission, contact your academic advisor first.
Your advisor will review your request and, if appropriate, initiate the override request process through the appropriate College Dean’s Office.

Question 6

6.	I want to change my major.

Accepted Answer

Schedule an appointment with your academic advisor to discuss the change and the impact it may have on your degree plan.

Question 7

7.	I am thinking about dropping a class.

Accepted Answer

Before dropping a course, speak with your academic advisor to review potential impacts on:
•	Graduation timeline
•	Financial aid eligibility
•	Academic standing

Question 8

8.	I am close to graduation – what are my next steps?

Accepted Answer

Students who have completed 90 credit hours should schedule their Senior Check appointment with their academic advisor to review graduation requirements and remaining coursework. Your advisor will also assist you with the graduation application process.
