Paralegal rates typically range from $175 to $195 per hour, depending on whether the paralegal is board-certified. Attorney rates generally range from $350 to $375 per hour, depending on the attorney's level of experience and the complexity of the work involved. Your case may involve a combination of attorney and paralegal time, which allows work to be handled efficiently and cost-effectively whenever appropriate.

Will I be asked to make another large payment later on?

In most cases, no. The majority of family law matters resolve without going to trial, and ongoing billing is usually handled through the regular weekly structure once your case is underway. If a case does not settle and proceeds toward trial, a separate trial retainer may be required. Trial preparation involves significantly more time, strategy, and court involvement. While this applies to a smaller percentage of cases, we believe in being transparent so clients can plan with confidence.

What does billing in .1 increments mean?

For example, a task that takes six minutes is billed as .1, and a task that takes twelve minutes is billed as .2. This system ensures that time is recorded consistently and fairly, rather than rounding to larger blocks of time.
