Yes! Your VA claim is a separate process and will not effect your application.

Will I still be able to maintain my education benefits.

Yes, in the Reserve, you will still receive TA $4,500 every FY.

GI Bill Transfer to Dependents

GI Bill transfer eligibility:
- Have served 6 years.
- Members must be listed in DEERS.
- Agree to serve an additional 4 years from time of transfer.

Do I have to come out of pocket if my assignment is out of state?

$750 stipend is given for traveling on official orders. Using your GTC, your travel expenses will be covered.

How often do the reserve deploy?

Accepted Answer

Deployment depends on your AFSC, your assigned unit, and the needs of the Air Force at any given time. In general, there’s no set deployment schedule for Reservists.

Most Reservist missions will be for logistics and support, but some specialties such as the Security Forces are more combat-oriented. While it’s not unusual to not deploy at all, all Reservists have to deploy when the circumstances require.

Can I work a full-time job with the Air Force Reserve?

Yes, while most of the Air Force Reserve careers are part time, we offer numerous full-time careers for those who are willing. These positions are available to you once you’ve been fully trained and established in your Reserve unit.

How long is the Reserve commitment?

Palace Chase:
(Enlisted) - Time left on active duty contract is doubled.
(Officer) - Time left on active duty contract is tripled.

Palace Front:
3 yr minimum if MSO is NOT completed.
1 yr minimum if MSO IS completed and keeping AFSC.
3 yr minimum if completed MSO and changing AFSC.

When would I report to my Reserve Unit?

Enlisted: Your gaining unit will reach out to you in a month with reporting instructions.

Officers: Appointment orders will be generated in AFPC after separation. You will use this to in-process with your gaining unit.

How do apply for an IMA position?

Accepted Answer

Your recruiter can assist you with the process. IMA positions are advertised on the Okta website. Click the RMVS button and filter your by your AFSC. 
An interview would be required. Once secured, your recruiter will be able to finalize your application.

What if I separate, have a break in service and want to come back?

We can still work your application if you are w/in 3 months after your DOS.
- Must have a valid 422 and PHA. (Please keep in mind, these expire after 12 months from date of signed copy.)

How do I signed off to out-process?

Accepted Answer

1. Complete Exit Questionnaire emailed by your recruiter.
2. Must attend Reserve Briefing. Held every other Wednesday (TAPS does not count).
**Book your Out-processing Briefing via the book an appointment link.**
3. Once separation orders are uploaded in vMPF, your recruiter will be able to sign you off.
