How to Get Permission for Classes
How to Get Permission for Classes
All Criminology and Criminal Justice (CCJS) courses, with the exception of CCJS 100, CCJS 105, CCJS 225 and CCJS 325, require a student to obtain the permission of the department prior to registration. To receive permission for a CCJS course, students must visit the CCJS stamps website at: www.ccjsstamps.umd.edu. CCJS Advising processes all permission request through the website throughout office hours. Students should receive a response to their request no later than one business day after their permission request was submitted. Please keep the following information in mind:

Current University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP) students, beyond their first semester, who would like to declare CCJS as their major are required to meet the following gateway criteria before applying to the major: Completion of CCJS 100 with a grade of C- or higher Completion of CCJS 105 with a grade of C- or higher Completion of MATH 111, 220, 140 or STAT 100 with a grade of C- or higher A minimum grade point average of 2.5 in all college level coursework is required

The Criminology and Criminal Justice (CCJS) internship (CCJS359 and CCJS398) is a learning experience involving work in a criminal justice or criminological setting. Interns are expected to gain valuable work experience as well as relevant knowledge which will add to their overall understanding of the field of criminology and criminal justice. Internship positions must center around learning new material over the course of the semester and interns are expected to participate in ongoing training and development.
