Linktree Referral Program Terms

These Referral Program Terms ("Referral Terms") apply when you participate in the Linktree Referral Program as a referrer or use a referral offer as a referred customer. By joining or participating in the Program, or by using a referral offer, you agree to these Referral Terms.

These Referral Terms supplement the Linktree Terms & Conditions ("General Terms"). The Program is a Monetization Program under the General Terms, and referral commissions are Partner Earnings. The General Terms, including the provisions covering payouts, taxes, privacy, suspension, liability, disputes and account termination, form part of these Referral Terms.

If these Referral Terms conflict with the General Terms about the Program, these Referral Terms apply to the extent of the conflict. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings given in the General Terms.

1. The Program

The Program allows an eligible Linktree user (a "Referrer") to share a unique referral link. When an eligible person (a "Referred Customer") uses that link and starts a qualifying paid Linktree subscription, the Referred Customer may receive a subscription discount and the Referrer may earn commissions under these Referral Terms.

The Program is an invitation-only pilot. Access to a referral link, Program page or discount does not by itself establish eligibility or create a right to a commission.

2. Referrer eligibility

To participate in the Program and be eligible for new referral activity and commissions, a Referrer must:

  • reside in the United States;
  • be at least 18 years old;
  • have an active Starter, Pro or Premium Linktree subscription;
  • have a verified email address and an active Linktree account in Good Standing;
  • be invited to and approved for the Program;
  • complete Linktree's Program enrollment requirements; and
  • comply with these Referral Terms, the General Terms, the Community Standards, applicable law and any Program guidance Linktree provides.

The Program is currently available only to invited participants based in the United States. Linktree may change or further limit eligible plans, accounts and locations, and the eligibility shown in the Program interface or invitation controls. Not every paid plan or account is necessarily eligible.

A Referrer does not need to complete payout onboarding before joining the Program or before eligible commissions begin to accrue. To receive a payout, however, the Referrer must satisfy the payout requirements in section 7.

Linktree may approve, reject, suspend or remove a participant where reasonably necessary to administer the Program, prevent abuse, comply with law, or protect Linktree, its users or third parties. Section 8 explains what happens when a Referrer no longer meets these requirements.

3. Qualifying Referred Customers and subscriptions

The Program is intended for first-time paid Linktree customers. Under the Program rules, a Referred Customer may already have a free Linktree account, but must not previously have held a paid Linktree subscription. Linktree may check this condition at checkout or during a later eligibility review. The display or application of a discount does not by itself confirm that this condition has been satisfied or that a commission will be payable.

A Referred Customer is eligible and a subscription qualifies only if:

  • the Referred Customer follows a valid referral link and starts the subscription within the 30-day attribution period;
  • Linktree records the referral before the subscription begins;
  • the Referred Customer purchases a Starter, Pro or Premium subscription through Linktree’s web checkout;
  • Linktree successfully receives and retains the payment for the subscription; and
  • the Referrer and Referred Customer are not engaged in prohibited, fraudulent or suspicious activity.

Subscriptions billed through Apple, Google or another in-app purchase provider do not qualify for a referral discount or commission. Free plans, link clicks, account creation, free trials before a qualifying subscription, $0 invoices and non-subscription purchases also do not qualify.

Discount eligibility and commission eligibility are assessed separately. A Referred Customer receiving or seeing a discount does not guarantee that the Referrer will receive a commission.

4. Attribution, tracking and privacy

Referral links contain a referral code. Linktree uses that code, cookies or similar technology, and relevant account and transaction records to administer the Program and attribute eligible subscriptions.

The attribution period is 30 days from the Referred Customer's most recent use of a valid referral link. Before the Referred Customer starts an eligible checkout or subscription flow, a later valid referral may replace an earlier referral. Once that checkout or subscription flow starts, the recorded Referrer is locked and cannot be changed.

Linktree's records determine attribution, subject to applicable law and correction of any Linktree processing errors. Tracking may fail if, for example, a link has expired, required tracking is blocked or cleared, a different account is used, a later referral replaces the original referral, or the purchase uses an ineligible billing channel. Linktree does not guarantee attribution when it does not receive the information needed to record the referral.

Linktree handles personal information used for the Program as described in its Privacy Notice and uses cookies and similar technology as described in its Cookie Notice. The 30-day attribution period does not require Linktree to delete account, transaction, fraud-prevention or legal records after 30 days; those records are retained in accordance with the Privacy Notice and applicable law.

5. Referred Customer offer

An eligible Referred Customer may receive 50% off their first monthly payment or 10% off their first annual payment when purchasing a Starter, Pro or Premium subscription through Linktree’s web checkout. The eligible plans are those for which the referral offer is displayed and accepted at checkout.

The discount:

  • applies only to the first paid billing period: the first month for monthly subscriptions or the first year for annual subscriptions;
  • is applied automatically at web checkout;
  • cannot be combined with another offer unless checkout expressly allows it;
  • cannot be added retroactively to an existing subscription or completed payment;
  • has no cash value and cannot be transferred, sold or exchanged; and
  • is limited to one referral offer per Referred Customer.

The price and offer displayed at checkout, together with the General Terms govern the purchase. After the discounted billing period, the subscription renews automatically at the then-current price displayed on the Linktree website and remains governed by the General Terms, unless the Referred Customer cancels in accordance with the General Terms.

6. Commissions

Subject to these Referral Terms, a Referrer earns 20% of Qualifying Revenue from each qualifying subscription payment made by an attributed Referred Customer during the Commission Period.

The "Commission Period" begins when the Referred Customer's first qualifying paid invoice is successfully processed and ends immediately before the same date and time 12 months later. A payment processed after the Commission Period does not earn a commission.

"Qualifying Revenue" means the US-dollar amount Linktree records for the qualifying subscription payment after discounts and applicable credits, less any tax included in that recorded amount. Refunds, chargebacks and other payment reversals may cause the related commission to be retracted or recovered as described in section 7.

A click, account creation, free trial, discount or attribution record does not by itself earn a commission. If a Referred Customer cancels their subscription without a refund, the Referrer receives no commission on future payments, but a commission already approved for a retained qualifying subscription payment is not retracted solely because of the cancellation.

Commissions are calculated in US dollars. Currency conversion, rounding and Payout Provider processing may affect the amount displayed or paid. Linktree may correct calculation, attribution and processing errors.

7. Pending commissions, refunds and payouts

Each commission is initially shown as “pending” during a 30-day review period after the qualifying subscription payment. During that period, Linktree may validate the payment and referral, investigate suspected fraud, and retract or adjust the commission because of a refund, chargeback, cancellation, duplicate event, processing error, ineligible transaction or breach of these Referral Terms.

Payouts are not automatic when the 30-day review period ends. If a pending commission is not retracted during the review period, it may move to a locked status. A locked commission has completed the initial 30-day review period, but it has not been approved for payout and is not yet payable. Locked commissions remain subject to eligibility and any further fraud review, correction and manual approval by Linktree's finance team.

After manual approval, Linktree may then initiate a payout through its designated referral-commission payout process. Any minimum payout threshold and Linktree-imposed processing fee will be shown in the Program interface or otherwise disclosed before payout. Other fees charged by the Payout Provider, a bank or another financial institution may also apply under the provider's terms.

To receive funds, a Referrer must complete Linktree's referral-commission payout onboarding, establish and maintain an approved account with Linktree's designated Payout Provider, and complete all identity, tax, bank and payment verification requested by Linktree or the Payout Provider, as specified in the General Terms. Payout onboarding is separate from Program enrollment: an eligible Referrer may join and accrue commissions before completing payout onboarding, but cannot receive funds until it is complete.

An approved balance below the disclosed minimum payout threshold rolls forward while the Referrer remains in the Program, but is not payable until the threshold is reached. Subject to any terms applicable to your Payout Account, Linktree generally makes payments of Available Funds reflected in your Linktree account on a monthly basis to your Payout Account through the Payout Provider and we will endeavour to advise you if there are changes to this payout schedule. However, payout timing is not guaranteed and may be delayed by the manual approval process described above, Program review, Payout Provider processing, missing verification, account restrictions or applicable law.

Before a commission is approved or paid, a refund, chargeback or other payment reversal may automatically retract the related commission and render it invalid. Adjustments after approval or payout require manual review and may not appear automatically. Linktree may deduct an invalid commission from the Referrer's balance, offset it against current or future earnings, withhold a future payout or require repayment, to the extent permitted by law.

8. Loss of eligibility and account termination

If a Referrer no longer meets the criteria in section 2, including because the Referrer changes to a plan that Linktree does not designate as eligible, Linktree may restrict Program access and stop new referral activity or new commissions while the Referrer is ineligible. Loss of plan eligibility does not make a locked commission payable and does not guarantee that Program access or commission accrual will resume if eligibility is later restored.

Linktree may also manually block a Referrer from the Program or retract commissions after reviewing suspected ineligibility, fraud, abuse, processing error or a breach of these Referral Terms. If Linktree terminates the Referrer's Program participation, or if the Referrer or Linktree closes the Referrer's Linktree account:

  • all active referral relationships end;
  • unpaid commissions may be withheld, retracted or forfeited where the Referrer or transaction does not satisfy the Program requirements or where the General Terms or applicable law permits; and
  • Linktree will use commercially reasonable efforts to process commissions already approved for payout, subject to the General Terms, the Payout Provider's requirements and applicable law.

A restriction or closure of a Payout Account may delay or prevent payout, but does not by itself prevent an otherwise eligible Referrer from joining the Program or accruing commissions. Linktree does not guarantee commissions for payments made while a Referrer was ineligible or blocked. A former participant may need to be invited to and approved for the Program again before earning new commissions.

9. Prohibited activity

Referrers and Referred Customers must not:

  • refer themselves or an account they own or control;
  • create duplicate, false or misleading accounts;
  • coordinate with another person to manufacture referrals, recycle subscriptions or evade eligibility limits;
  • use a stolen, shared or unauthorized payment method;
  • use bots, scripts, automation, cookie stuffing, spam or deceptive techniques to generate clicks, signups, subscriptions or commissions;
  • interfere with referral tracking, attribution, reporting or Program security;
  • alter, mask, redirect or frame a referral link in a way that disguises its source or operation;
  • publish a referral link on a coupon, deal or discount-aggregation site without Linktree's written approval;
  • bid on Linktree trademarks, use misleading domain names or impersonate Linktree in paid search or advertising without Linktree's written approval;
  • offer a Referred Customer cash or another benefit in exchange for using the referral link without Linktree's written approval;
  • make a false, misleading or unsubstantiated claim about Linktree or the Program;
  • hide or misrepresent the commercial nature of a referral endorsement; or
  • violate applicable advertising, consumer-protection, privacy, sanctions, anti-spam or anti-fraud law.

Linktree may investigate suspected abuse and may withhold, retract or recover commissions; disqualify referrals; suspend payouts; remove a Referrer from the Program; restrict or terminate accounts; and take any other action permitted by the General Terms or law in circumstances Linktree has determined, in its discretion, that prohibited activity has occurred.

10. Referral disclosures and marketing

A Referrer must clearly and conspicuously disclose their financial relationship with Linktree whenever they recommend Linktree or share a referral link. The disclosure must be easy to notice and understand and must appear close to the recommendation or link.

For example:

Ad: I may earn a commission if you subscribe to Linktree through my link.

The disclosure must appear in the post, message, video or other endorsement itself. For video endorsements, the disclosure must appear in the video, both visually and audibly, and should also appear near the referral link in the description. A platform disclosure tool may be used in addition to a clear disclosure, but the Referrer must not rely on the tool alone.

Referrers must describe their honest experience. Linktree may provide suggested copy or creative assets, but the Referrer remains responsible for complying with applicable laws and platform rules. Linktree may require a Referrer to correct or remove non-compliant marketing. However, Linktree is not responsible for any loss that you might incur due to non-compliance and you must pay for any costs that Linktree incurs due to your failure to comply.

11. Taxes and verification

Referrers are responsible for taxes arising from referral earnings. Linktree or its Payout Provider may collect tax information, withhold amounts, report earnings and issue tax forms where required. A Referrer must provide accurate, complete and current identity, tax, bank and payout information before receiving funds. Failure to do so may delay or prevent payout.

12. Changes, suspension and ending the Program

Linktree may change the Program, commission rate, Commission Period, eligible plans, discounts, payout threshold, payout fee, eligibility criteria or these Referral Terms for legal, commercial, operational, fraud-prevention or product reasons. Changes take effect on the date stated in the notice and do not reduce Available Funds earned before that date. Linktree will provide notice of changes in accordance with the General Terms and applicable law.

Linktree may pause or end the Program at any time. When the Program ends, no new referrals or commissions accrue after the stated end time. A pending or locked commission does not become payable merely because the Program ends. Approved and unpaid commissions are handled under sections 7 and 8 and the General Terms.

13. Support and disputes

If you believe a referral, commission or discount was processed incorrectly, contact Linktree Support or email support@linktr.ee. Include the relevant Linktree usernames, approximate dates, referral link and any receipt or invoice information Support requests. Do not send passwords, complete payment-card details, tax identification numbers or identity documents to Support.

Linktree will review its available records but cannot promise a particular outcome or recreate attribution that was not recorded. The dispute and governing-law provisions in the General Terms apply.
