If you're looking for authentic African food in Lisbon, "Rhythm &amp; Roots" is a must-visit! Every dish we ordered was delicious, flavorful, and clearly made from scratch using fresh ingredients. The food is prepared to order, so be ready to wait a little longer than at some restaurants, but that's because everything is cooked fresh, and it absolutely shows.<br><br>The food is well worth the wait. If you appreciate authentic African cuisine made with care and incredible flavor, you'll leave happy. I would definitely return the next time I'm in Lisbon!

While giving to the afrobeat music👍The food here is absolutely delicious, though it is quite pricey. I had the pounded yam paired with a rich, flavorful mixed meat and spinach stew (Efo Riro), which was outstanding. My friend ordered the rice with okra soup, which was perfectly spicy and equally tasty.

This is one of those places that leaves you conflicted.<br><br>On one hand, the food was outstanding.. so good that I still think about it long after my trip. The drinks were equally impressive, and the service was attentive and professional. From a culinary standpoint, it's easy to understand why people recommend it.<br><br>On the other hand, the pricing surprised me. The restaurant is located outside the city center, yet prices are comparable to many of Lisbon's mid-to-upper-end dining establishments. At that price point, diners often expect not just excellent food, but also a destination-worthy atmosphere, elevated ambiance, or a particularly memorable dining experience. While the food absolutely delivers, the overall experience didn't quite align with the expectations created by the price point.<br><br>As a visitor, I enjoyed the meal and felt the quality justified the cost. However, I couldn't help but wonder whether the current business model relies heavily on travelers and tourists. As someone who thinks about customer experience and business sustainability, I believe there may be an opportunity to cultivate a stronger base of local repeat customers.<br><br>For example, a neighborhood wine night, prix fixe menu, loyalty program, chef's tasting events, or recurring community-focused experiences could encourage residents to return more frequently. The food is certainly good enough to support that kind of following. Building a loyal local customer base alongside tourist traffic could make an already strong restaurant even stronger.<br><br>That said, if you're a foodie who prioritizes exceptional food and drinks above all else, this place is absolutely worth seeking out. It's one of the few restaurants from my trip that I still find myself thinking about, and that's perhaps the highest compliment I can give.
