We are a vocal group in New York City preserving and practicing peasant village traditions. Our work is an effort to learn and carry forward songs passed down through generations as students of folklore. Our name, Po Kose, reflects our connection to this heritage: The Coastal Sandbar: This represents the bridge across the shifting sands of time, the connection between lands, and our role in an ever-evolving musical landscape. The Braid: This is our vocal philosophy. Like a braid, harmony relies on the tension and alignment of individual strands. We weave our distinct voices, lineages, and life experiences to create a single, unified, and resonant sound. Haymaking (Покос): This honors the seasonal cycles of agrarian life. These songs were essential to the rhythm of the harvest, and we approach them with reverence for the communal work and natural flow they were created to sustain.
