Why don’t you have a job?

This is my job. I have had more conventional jobs in the past and will again in the future. I am in early recovery from addiction and suffering from PTSD after being seriously physically assaulted while doing sex work. I am awaiting mental health treatment. I am not dangerous but some of my symptoms would currently make conventional employment impossible. I started this as a safer (than sex work) flexible zero commitment job which would enable me to meet people and be outside when my mental health allows and not to work when I feel totally unable.

Are you homeless?

Accepted Answer

I am currently living in emergency accommodation provided by the council. Before that I was in a caravan at the side of the road for several years. I preferred the caravan however my current accommodation is more stable while I am in early recovery from addiction. I only got stable emergency housing due to the intervention of shelter who I’m very grateful to.

Question 3

Are you a student?

Accepted Answer

I am a student at the University of Edinburgh, however due to my current situation I took a years interruption and was not eligible for SAAS (student finance). I returned to my studies in September and stopped being a vendor because I had alternative income. Unfortunately SAAS have now told me that they will not pay my fees and I won’t get a grant. I am starting working again to raise the money to pay my fees myself.

Question 4

Are you a drug addict?

Accepted Answer

Yes. I am a drug addict and always will be, I cannot be trusted to take any intoxicant (including alcohol) responsibly. I have been abstinent of all intoxicants since 15/08/24 and will remain so until my death.
